Listen, Malik doesn't have a damn clue what love or actually loving another human being means. He's emotionally closed, he doesn't open up easily, he doesn't understand the concept of romantic "love" compared to familial love with his siblings. Malik is a user by trade, if he does somehow end up with another person, it's solely because they have something he needs, and easily disregards them once he finds them useless.

Even if he could muster the strength to lie to his sister’s face, the sight of his already bruising knuckles would have been a clear indication. Unable to look his sister in the eyes, knowing there must’ve been some kind of scorn in her expression. Like a mother who caught her child’s hand in the cookie jar, and Malik couldn’t stand that expression.

It pained him, just as he knew it pained her.

Rare as it was to show such vulnerability, even in presence of his older sister, Malik always had that glass wall between them, keeping her out. For a short while, perhaps that same wall could come down. Malik was no longer a child, but that wouldn't stop the nightmares, nor the dark thoughts that clouded his conscious, and it was only logical that he would go to his source of immediate comfort. Childish as it was, his sister would always be a person he could fall back to, even on the darkest ofttimes.

Unflinching to her touch at wild hair, Malik felt his eyes close with the feel of his hair being parted, uncaring to correct it or to stop her, it felt nice. ❝Mm.❞ The younger offered a low hum from his throat, acknowledging what she was saying but did not return the favour. Was it almost foolish to believe that she could possibly understand? No, but Malik didn't wish to burden her far more than he already had.

Breathing in slowly, a semi smile almost curled his lips, and in turn, a tanned hand rose to gently rest upon hers. ❝I know..I trust you, sister.❞
