{ ✴ }   ︎——   WIND CHIMES PLAY OVERLAPPING MELODIES ACROSS THE AIR.  heat dances from the rims of mugs filled with the sweet aroma of chamomile mixed with lavender syrup. taking a light sip of his drink, a smile tugs at the corner of his lips as @death-upright finds his way back to the table.

there's pressure against cecil's leg, a fluffy black shape demanding attention from the man he's decided is his new best friend. zander chuckles softly at the sight, sitting across from his guest with a warm smile.

"aw, it's just home," he says, though he preens at the compliment. "I call it witchy maximalism or whatever." his hands lift his own mug, black with a deer skull design, and once he's swallowed and set it back down he adds,"thanks for takin' me up on it. I'm really glad you came."

{ ✴ }   ︎——   A BROW RAISES TO LOOK AT THE AFFECTIONATE CREATURE BELOW.  with a widening smile, a palm doesn't hesitate to reach down and scritch behind the ears and long swooping pets across the back. a laugh then escapes him, posture straightening against the back of his chair.

❛ a very accurate descriptor ... it's charming, very you. ❜ his own place was the opposite -- teals and blues as accents against greys and whites. minimalist in nature, even for the amount of time he'd been here at hill crest -- he should really add more to his home. ❛ as am i ... i haven't had many people to visit outside of my own home besides aisling. this is nice ... am i tasting lavender in the tea ?? ❜

an impossible breeze ripples through tall, silvery grass. shapes circle far, far overhead, looking for prey, but not daring to approach @incogniiita. nothing dares to approach down here. nothing smart, anyway.

the occasional insectoid or animalistic deathborn, not yet developed into sentience, scurry past cecil, but nothing so far gives him trouble down here in the dark, underground plains. this is the top level of the otherworld, and it can be a dangerous place indeed if one doesn't know what they're doing.

a shape silently parts the tall grass, a skeletal face peering at cecil with glowing, supernova eyes. it has an unmistakable aura of Death, though no malice or hunger roll off of it. after a moment where it silently, eerily regards cecil, it disappears back into the grass. and a moment after that, a warm, sleepy eyed human face reemerges.

"who might you be?," he asks, curiously tilting his head. gentle hands are in view, parting the grass enough for them to clearly see each other. no weapon rests at his hip, but his tail flicks interestedly back and forth, and the very end catches the dim light in that telltale, sharp way all deathtouched posses. "is there... somethin' you're lookin' for?"

{ ✴ }   ︎——   THE AIR IS THICKER HERE, LIKE WADING THROUGH WATER.  an unseen pressure wraps across his body like a vibration, watching as the shining silver grass ripples and gleams with the wind. he came here with two others -- ones he had strayed away from to gain more ground. to observe, to scout. this strange dimension that had existed possibly since their beginning of time was expanding. rapidly enough to grab the attention of angels (more formerly known as celestials). they want to know why. blonde hair flows freely with the wind -- a flash of white and gold echoing across his gaze as he takes in the scenery and the flying creatures above. it's then a presence curves nausea at his rib cage in warning. it is something he had felt before -- fleeting but prominent. death. that cold but distinctly aromatic waft that reminds people what is to greet them at the end of every cycle. he had seen the reports on deathtouched, but nothing could prepare him for being in the presence of one. blinding blues whip to the wall of tall grass, wings suddenly appearing and thrusting outwards in caution. the image of the creature shifts from sharp to welcoming. trying to gauge if this was a friend or foe. as the skeletal form disappears back into the foliage and a familiar human visage appears -- his shoulders slack with light relief -- gyrfalcon-esque wings disappearing from vision once more.

❛ a celestial scout. i mean no harm. ❜ it's a formal greeting, not yet wanting to identify himself by name, his voice having a ring of authority. ❛ not anything specific, no. only investigating. we won't stay long. ❜ he ensures with a nod of good faith towards the other, brows stern but eyes are soft with the faintest flash of a smile.

WELCOME TO HILL CREST!

hill crest, michigan: a quaint small town, and boasting a grand population of 8,773! despite recent tragedies and abrupt departures, this town continues to thrive, thanks to our new mayor leading us through it all. we take pride in our local culinary scene, especially the bakeries, and our local newspaper supplies us with excellent and up-to-date information on everything we and our neighbours might need to know! creativity is also a fundamental part of life here in hill crest, with an excellent tattoo parlour in town, not to mention the musical talents presented through our radio station! even though times have challenged us lately, these tragic accidents have only served to strengthen our community. we can't wait to see you visit our lovely town!

"hill crest" is a group-based verse on discord, set in the fictional small town of hill crest, michigan. focusing on the mystery genre, hill crest explores the idea of "stuff like that doesn't happen here", conspiracy theories, "everything is connected", and how a community can be united just as easily as it can be divided by tragedies and suspicious circumstances. all the locations in the server are owned or operated by the characters in the town.

FIVE TIMES DRABBLES  / ACCEPTING /  @sevencfswcrds​  asked :  five times touched (victor and rasa))

{ ✴ }   ︎——    THE FIRST IS TENTATIVE AND STUTTERED WITH HESITANCE.  figures walk side by side within the confines of the narrow concrete pavement. the city loud, unforgiving, and bright as the sun begins to hide beneath the skyline of skyscrapers and towering brick.  even from his strictly set forward gaze, he can see the tenseness clear as day. pulled taught across the line of her shoulders as discomfort hums consistently in the air.  he bites back a snarl of disapproval at himself as a lilt of kindness dared to suggest itself in his mind.  lips briefly thin, teeth gnawing at the inside of his cheeks before an arm is extended. glowering gaze averted.  through the leather of his jacket, he can feel her fingers curl and strain through fabric. iron tight and strong despite her gaunt and small form.

❛ ... we’ll be out of the noise soon. ❜  he promises. voice gravel as it rumbles in the back of his throat. attempting to smother the softness of care in his words with grinding grit and stern features. he did not need softness in his life. or at least that’s what he tries to convince himself.

the second is a brush of fingertips. shocked at the jolt of contact. an accident, yet it is enough to freeze nerves in their place. breath stalls in his throat, watching as hands hover with a breath of space. a part of him has to remind himself to breathe. a familiar flutter of nervousness tapping across his arms, the curve of his shoulders, and stinging the back of his head. the quiet shock is blinked from his eyes with a hard clearing of his throat. he does not acknowledge it out loud. yet his heart does. it pings with a familiar flame. one he did not believe could be reignited.  that frightens him. but the fear does not last. the third is drenched in comfort. the low lit fire illuminating both lounging forms upon the couch. rasa’s presence is leaned into his side, head resting upon his shoulder. victor curved blissfully into the cushions. his usual rigid and closed form open and vulnerable. almost at peace. an odd thing to embrace and feel after centuries. his limp hand resting on back edge of the couch is then gently taken. a careful touch as rasa’s hand curls across his fingers. head turns and tilts to look at the contact. a simple gesture, but it spoke loudly. i trust you, it silently whispers in the still air.  after a beat of silence, his hand shifts to intertwine their fingers, hesitant and ginger. and in response, his action replies with: i trust you too. the fourth is soft and sweet. another simple gesture but one of care. gestures like these, ones that victor had locked deep and dark away in a box. out of sight and out of mind. to pretend that his resurrected dead heart did not beat with love. but with her-- he let the rhythm of it be known. reaching outwards, his thumb swipes across her cheek. catching an eyelash upon his fingertip. with stern furrowed brows, he observes it for a moment before turning and gently blowing it to the wind.  there’s a pause then, catching the other’s incredulous gaze. those hard lined brows soften for a moment, suppressing a quiet smile, but for the first time he fails. “... it’s meant to be good luck.” victor comments, a quiet shyness in the back of his explanation as he averts his gaze to the nature that surrounds them. a breeze brushing past as it kisses the features of their skin and ruffles their hair. he could live in this moment forever. and a part of him hopes that she feels the same. the fifth is under openness. his bare back is curved as he sits upon the edge of his bed, forearms resting heavy on his knees. sleep fogged and fuzzy as it circles his mind. hair disheveled as it obscures his features. there’s a shift across from him, his closed eyes sensing the shift of light behind. stripes of moonlight being blocked with rasa’s silhouette. there’s a trace of skin then, fingertips moving across the line of his shoulder. then down the prominent magical scarring. streaking handprints marked almost like black ink across his skin. one might think they were tattoos at first glance. but upon closer inspection-- the surface vaguely shimmers, the darkness of the handprints absorbing any light that dares to touch it. muscles tense briefly at the sensation, memories briefly resurfacing to his mind but are quickly swiped away with a light wince. her hand pauses and rests on the middle of his back, her chin leaning forward to rest upon the crook of his shoulder. he lets her be close, lets her keep in his space. lets the past be touched by her, be seen by her. his head tilts, letting his forehead rest upon the frame of her face. both sinking and accepting the silence and closeness of the moment. how grateful i am, he thought, to be able to love again.

vuulpecula​  /  SUSPECTED SURVIVOR. 

      Focus your breathing, do not betray yourself. The pieces strapped along her belt felt heavier than ever against her lower back. As if they too could sense another saber was near. It had been what felt like lifetimes since they were joined together, humming with the power of the kyber crystal. Fox still practiced, though never with the blade. Learning how to use sticks and rods in place of the weapon that had once moved like liquid within her hands. On Kashyyyk, a blaster had taken its place, but as she watched the red length of light extend from the hilt of the strangers saber, she knew a blaster would not be enough.

      Fox’s skin rose in a chill despite the humidity of the planet. There was such darkness in the way the other spoke, bringing forth a rush of unwanted emotions. The fall of the jedi was still a gaping wound within her chest. Gouged fresh with a fear that never healed. “The jedi,” she questioned, pulling her brows tight. “There are no jedi here,” her feet planted into the soft dirt, holding their ground. “But it appears you managed to survive it, is that what is so funny to you?”

{ ✴ }   ︎——   THERE’S A FALTER IN HER EYES.  subtle, but enough for the lids of her eyes to briefly narrow.  a flash of recollection moves through her mind. memories she wished she could bury six feet beneath the very ground they stood upon. gloved fingers tighten with strain upon the hilt of her saber, jaw following suit with growing tension. lips force themselves into a tightened smile, head tilting as feet begin to trek another semicircle around the other. anticipating. observing. waiting. 

     ❛  i would have died on scraps if it wasn’t for the empire.  ❜   essala’s words smoothly sink into the air.  a hiss of a scoff is given through a grin, one that is brief and cuts across her lips like a knife,  ❛  i find it  funny  how i was given a second chance at life ... when they could have killed me where i stood.  but my purpose changed with a showing of mercy.  just as the galaxy did.  ❜   her emphasis is sharp, words beginning to be bared through gritted teeth. it was a way of survival, to keep her life, for she was young and afraid of death. but in return she painted her hands red with the blood of those she once knew as acquaintances, mentors, and friends. she pretends the looming guilt, grief, and loss doesn’t exist any longer. only malice, rage, and bitterness existed here.    feet continue to pace, tracing another half of a semicircle around the other, dark eyes unwavering and focused. steps then pause at the woman’s side, red searing blade being pointed upwards and out. the tip of the blade greeting the curve of fox’s jaw. the heat close enough to make skin sweat.  ❛  perhaps i could give you that same mercy if you tell the truth.  ❜  the inquisitor suggest, a warning at the edge of her tongue. the red of the saber dancing in her eyes. it was a sick invitation. one a part of her hoped the other would take.

sevenswcrds​ / NOX.

“No- you ought to know, really.” Nox’s gray-violet gaze flickers over each, only a little miserably, before his expression settles again. It’s- apparent, probably at this point, that everything Nox does is scripted- always in control of himself until he isn’t. Coping, probably, due to being literally at the beck and call, and every whim of a lich-turned-demigod for centuries without end. 

The slip ups are slip ups. Rare, and far-between, but slip ups. 

Maybe a little more common, since their… Abrupt exit, of the necropolis. “- The crown, or diadem, that’s Olkarion. He’s the strategist, of all of us- the youngest, too, only sealed perhaps four hundred odd years ago. He’s- a bookworm. Hates violence, kind. Shy? He’s just a good one. He was meant to- round us out, I think. The staff- that’s Rhys. I.. Quite genuinely think that he is the single most frightening man I’ve ever met- externally. His heart’s golden. Massive, sword-wielding golden boy, covered in runic tattoos meant to boost strength, speed, healing… And, well, he was second, after me. So we’ve been through the whole of it. He’s… kinder than the world would let him be, I think. At least, the world we knew. And last is Cu- impulsive, abrasive, wild-dog of a man who’s more loyal that anyone I’ve ever known… To us. Never to Calculla of his own will.” Nox leans back in the chair, looking up at the ceiling and sighing. 

“- They’re good people, but they’re also not going to trust you worth a damn. And even if I vouch for you, they won’t, because they’ll have no proof that whoever has my ring didn’t order me to tell them to. They can’t harm anyone who bears their item- or go against their bearer’s will, but… See the issue?”

{ ✴ }   ︎——   ATTENTIVE EYES FLICK BETWEEN EACH OBJECT WITH THE CONTINUED SHIFT OF FOCUS.  zeroing in upon the carefully crafted details, the subtleties as he listens and listens well. ears keen and sharp, even well before he placed himself within a career of therapy. a useful and necessary skill. to listen and learn about others. each name is noted and burned within his skull. he does not plan to forget them any time soon. calix had lived his fair share of centuries. the only difference between himself and the trapped beings before him, is that he got to live those centuries with freedom.  they did not.  meeting a unexpected and ill-fated destiny. how could a man be so cruel, his mind is tempted to ask. but he knows well that cruelty exists unapologetically in this spinning earth and has since the dawn of time. some beings, whether they be human or of the occult, are simply unafraid and unashamed to wield it for their own benefits.  his eyes do not rise yet as the ending inquiry hits the air. faded blues focused on a spot of velvet in thought as he digests the other’s words carefully.

❛ ... i do. ❜  his frown dips deeper, a slow sigh being pulled from his nostrils as locked hands now fall to rest limply in the middle of his knees. a tricky situation that could not be resolved with words-- and proof almost impossible to grab. after centuries of being entangled with a being like calculla, the demon couldn’t blame them for not being open or giving with their trust. a part of him hoped it could be earned-- but even such a feat he’s unsure of achieving.     

❛ it’s an unfortunate circumstance-- i understand why a promise of words isn’t enough. ❜  sympathy is evident in his brows as they uptilt briefly.  ❛ … i wish there was more we could do. ❜ he murmurs softly, a thought spoken to the air before he continues,  ❛  i’ll do my best to make sure the live as comfortably as they can in this ... condition. ❜  a pause before gaze rises again, posture straightening slightly. ❛  is there, anything  pressing  i should know about-- attuning myself to these items.  ‘do’s and don’ts’? ❜

{ ✴ }   ︎——    THE FIRST TIME LIPS GRACE SKIN IS IN SLY FLIRTATION.  barely a kiss at all, more bite than the sweet gentle caress of lips. an open mouthed grinned of teeth across a craning neck.  a challenge, perhaps a dare.  he rose to the occasion, for he was not one to shy away from games such as these.  just a bit of curious fun, he thought.  but as ambers meet faded violet -- there’s a rarity that hits his chest.  the faint unnatural rhythm of something trying to come  alive  again.  something he thought to have thrown away and burned centuries ago.    a heartbeat.

he’s not sure what it is about the other that digs deep within his very being. that tug within his chest refusing to cease. only growing under the mindful and soft touch of pale hands.  a shell of a man he had left behind upon the patterned chapel floor within florence beginning to re-emerge.  the core of himself that even with  poisoned  rebirth could not kill. both were on limited time with each meeting.  he had a destiny to fulfill as a puppet to another.  the other unwillingly following the wishes and whim of an overlord lich.   lips are chaste the second time, the only desire upon them is to consume with heated and sparse breaths.  flush and rose tinted with blooms of blushed blood rising to the surface of skin. whether it is by palms, nails, or natural design.  even with the fumbling fast pace, there is a moment where lips collide beautifully.  a careful and long kiss that has the demon sinking and melting.  engraining it, burning it upon his brain like a branded insignia.  it is a pause, or perhaps a reminder to savior each other while they could.  time was still ticking.  a separate reminder he wished to  forget.  one that seeds doubt in the back of his mind towards the end card of his life.  there was more to life that was worth living, he realizes staring at the ceiling of the study. fingers mindlessly threading through the spectre’s blonde locks that rested upon the soft rise and fall of the demon’s chest. bodies sprawled and intertwined across the crimson velvet of the couch. he makes a silent decision then and there.  he is not giving up this life. he wants to live it. the third is firm, laced with a farewell that is not spoken but known.  khal’s timer was up.  he could not delay the event any longer.  but with a sly mind as always, he had a plan.  one that was disclosed with almost foolish confidence. with a stern palm snapping to the back of his head, form is guided and curved forward into a kiss.  a meaningful one.  one that may be their last.  a quiet admittance is spoken into the air :    ❛ a part of me wondered if i’d ever see you again ... after all the madness that awaits. ❜  a pause wavers in the air with thinning lips of thought, odd violet hues staring upon khal’s features.    ‘ do you want to ? ’ ❛ ... i imagine i would, yes. ❜  khal replies, those usual devious features daring to soften. a small kiss is stolen after another pause of consideration from the spectre.   ‘ ... see that you survive to do so then, lord demon. ’   a smile is flashes across features, but it doesn’t quite reach violet hues. a hint of sadness shining through.  ‘ as a personal favor, mind.’  a place is set to meet if survival was successful before they part ways once more.  and thus, by luck it was. khal’s timer shatters that day in the underground.  he sees to live another day, yet willingly throws himself into danger and inevitable death once more.  but not for his sake.  for nox’s.  his first selfless act as a demon after years of deception and selfish motivation.  his heart returned and now grants needed guidance, perspective, and wisdom.  the fourth is quiet and in relief.  there is an incredulous glimmer across violet hues at the sight of the ring once in possession of the lich, calculla, upon khal’s hand. hands shaken and breath more so.  calculla’s hold upon nox’s will severed with the ring.  attuned to a new blazing energy.  blonde head dips into khal’s taller form with a soft spoken gratitude.  a silent kiss is placed upon the spectre’s head.  arms gently wrapped across the other’s curved form. a promise of security and safety as they sink in silence that begins to drown the room.  the madness officially ending.  replaced with well needed peace. the fifth is accompanied with joyous tears.  with the presentation of another ring that held commitment, promise, and meaning deeper than the one khal possessed currently.  the gleam and glow of the sunset a haze of orange and pink, setting their kneeling figures alight.  for the first time, khal meets the face of nervousness as a demon.  there was no reason for it -- yet the flutter persisted.  an uncommon feeling in the face of his ego and unbridled confidence.   ‘ … promise me that you mean it,’ there’s a brief blink of surprise in response as nox speaks, ‘ promise me that you want me -- for all of it, for everything. the ring with my soul is one thing- that bound me to you. but this -- this binds you to me. and that is- something differently entirely. promise me that you want me as such, and then put it on me ... how could I ever want anything but you ? how could I say anything but yes, to having you -- being with you, being yours, you to be mine, for as long as we both know ? promise me, and then yes. always and forever, yes. ’  there is a breathless laugh that huffs from his lungs. his own breath being held unknowingly with quiet anticipation. 

❛ ... i promise, mio caro.  always and forever. ❜  khal replies, his own voice gaining cracks of overwhelming emotion.  prompting another quiet laugh as tears brim his eyes as the new crafted ring is placed with gentle care.  as gazes meet again, a breath of a pause is waved in the air until forms lean forward with a surging force.  smiling lips colliding with overjoyed happiness.  to bottle this moment would be bliss.  god, how he loved him and will continue to love him to the end of his days. they had forever ahead of them. and forever they would now spend by each other’s sides. always and forever.

hey all, my brain hasn’t been too great w writing rn and i think that’s mainly because of a burnout that i’m trying to recover from – i’m still unsure tbh, but every time i come onto any of my blogs to write i just immediately feel exhausted and honestly all muses – whether they’re canon or ocs, it’s like there’s a wall blocking connection to them if that makes sense ?? … i know it won’t last forever, because they are very much here and present, but this makes it Extremely difficult for me to write atm … i’m taking it slow for now – but just know, that i am still extremely invested in all threads and dynamics i have on here and so desperately want to write but i’m going to have to probably take a break for a little while … if i get a random burst of muse, i’ll try to write when i can but for now i’m taking it slow. i love you all so very dearly and i hope you guys will be here when i start getting my groove back hopefully in the near future 💛💛💛

hey all, my brain hasn’t been too great w writing rn and i think that’s mainly because of a burnout that i’m trying to recover from -- i’m still unsure tbh, but every time i come onto any of my blogs to write i just immediately feel exhausted and honestly all muses -- whether they’re canon or ocs, it’s like there’s a wall blocking connection to them if that makes sense ?? ... i know it won’t last forever, because they are very much here and present, but this makes it Extremely difficult for me to write atm ... i’m taking it slow for now -- but just know, that i am still extremely invested in all threads and dynamics i have on here and so desperately want to write but i’m going to have to probably take a break for a little while ... if i get a random burst of muse, i’ll try to write when i can but for now i’m taking it slow. i love you all so very dearly and i hope you guys will be here when i start getting my groove back hopefully in the near future 💛💛💛
