It was a cold Melbourne morning, with lots of frost and fog. Still we decided to go for our drive. On the way I saw a distant hill which created a nice effect with the fog, so I turned away from the highway to try a get a nice viewpoint. I didn’t find a spot which was “right”...but as we kept driving this little pond with perfect reflections came up. As I was taking a photo of the tree I noticed movement through the viewfinder....it was the horses. All things coming unexpectedly together for this photo. I was very pleased, encouraged, and then ran back to the heated car.
That’s the thing with the ocean - you just can’t get enough of it. It is breathtaking every time you see it, even if you see it every day.
Angry Seas
It’s been a while since I updated this feed. Things have been a bit ... entangled. But not hopefully i will have some more time, and inspiration. It’s interesting how it complex times my photo count just drops, to the point where I hardly take any.
And then something like this comes a long. A camping trip. And it all comes back.
These trees were filmed on a very windy and stormy day. They are very dense, and kept clashing against each other, generating a massive wind-chime. It was actually slightly scary to stand there in the middle.
Again a busy time, that feels like a climb - and again worth the view!
A well deserved break in the Grampians.
We bought a house (not this one)
Blue and Gold
It's difficult to convey the sense of endless space you experience. It's a liberating, soothing feeling. No internet or phones hundreds of kilometers in sight. No passers by. Except for a lovely couple from Holland - we saw their camper arrive when we stopped by Lake Eyre.
We stood there by the side of the endless salt lake, talked a bit about life - they come to Australia once every few years, and always head towards the center. They love the coastal mountains and striking scenery - but ״this״, they said, pointing towards endless plains of unremarkable sand - "how do you explain this to someone??".
Work, work, work!
Flinders Ranges
Probably one of highlights of our trip were the Flinders Ranges. Often overlooked by tourists, this mountain range with it's crater-shaped centerpiece is absolutely stunning. It's arid, rough, but swarming with wildlife and hidden corners. It bursts with vivid colors, clear skies, and crisp air. In has a feeling of harshness to it, like it's unforgiving.
This are my favorite kind of landscapes - harsh and unforgiving.
