a real and intense peeve of mine is when people designing posters, or any kind of graphic, choose a typeface that doesn't support diacritics, and then they just leave the default sans serif, mismatched letter in there, like
do thёy just not notice ?
when it happens in an aesthetic studyblr post, who cares, we're just having fun here. but professional companies in the real world will do this in their marketing materials too, which is like ?!!!!! did you pay a designer to do that ?!??
the easiest would be to choose a different typeface. but you don't even need to. if you're editing the poster in something like photoshop or gimp etc. you can type the word in the Official Brand Font™ without diacritics so that the base letter fits in correctly. then on a separate layer, type the diacritic in whatever typeface supports it, and position it over the intended letter. et voil𝑎̀.
shout out to this company below, that didn't even bother to use the correct diacritic ! and because it's in completely the wrong font, their error stands out even more
that surname in the screenshot above should read "Françoise" with a cedilla under the C, not "Franćoise" with an acute accent over it.
⟨Ç⟩ in ensures that C is pronounced [s] instead of [k] like in the word "façade", whereas ⟨Ć⟩ is a letter in some Slavic languages like Polish, and makes a sound similar to the Ch in "church"

they're pedojacketing patricia taxxon on bluesky now, and more intensely than any of the campaigns against her on here... here's hoping she doesn't kill herself
Reblog and put in the tags what you would have been blogging about on tumblr in 2004.

one of my least favorite genres of progressive online post is. "people think The West is so advanced and modernity is songood but pre modern people outside europe had [ancient aliens level misinformation] and [impressive for the time, but obsolete, farming practice]"

STAY EPISTEMICALLY HUMBLE
NEVER KILL YOURSELF
sometimes i see an opinion i disagree with, and from a combination of wanting to keep up appearances, avoid flak, and cut to the heart of the issue, i draft a series of increasingly abstract responses, eventually culminating in typing out "falsehoods aren't true", which, in a perfect act of autofellatio, deletes itself
