Welcome to the Indycar Big Bang!
@dystini and I (@danifesting) have decided it's time for Indycar to have its own Big Bang. Here's what you need to know.
This big bang is open to anyone who wants to write for indycar.
Ships must include at least 1 current or former indycar driver. For poly ships, at least 2 of the drivers must be current or former indycar drivers.
Fics must be at least 10k in length, but we highly encourage you to write more than that if you can. Big bangs are for creating long fic after all.
Secondary works ("art") can be in the form of podfic, fanart, collages, cover art, playlists or edits.
You are welcome to sign up for create more than one fic or more than one secondary work.
Sign ups will begin on Feb 23rd via Google forms. Fics are due Sept 12th with posting beginning on the 13th.
First check in will be March 30th for primary workers, just to make sure you still want to participate.
Second check in (50% drafts due, mandatory check in) will be May 29th. This will include a submission of a draft (via your writing platform of choice, Google docs, ellipsus, etc.). 50% drafts must contain at least 5000 words in in length, but if your fic is going to be longer, try to be as close to 50% of the way through your fic. It should have a planned ending but specifics are not necessary, it can just be "x get together at y". The 50% draft email must contain a summary, some general tags, any content or archive warnings, and a 3-400 word writing sample for any podficcers to get a sense of your writing style.
Summaries will be posted on May 30th at 10:00 am eastern time with claims beginning at noon. A post will be made on this account with the summaries and under that post, you will comment with your top 3 fics that you would like to create a secondary work for (if you only have 1 you'd like to create for, that's okay, you're just not guaranteed to be matched with that fic). All claims will be on a first come, first served basis. Writers and their secondary workers will be contacted via email to match as soon as possible after they are matched.
Third mandatory check in will be July 3rd to see if you are on track to finish your fic by the due date.
Posting date claims will begin August 15th with the same process as secondary workers claims with the goal of 1 fic posted per day for as many days as there are fics.
