i can't forget this one post i saw about a promotional photoshoot for emma 2020 where the actors playing emma and knightley were in costume but their hair was cut and styled in a modern fashion. someone reposted it saying wow i wish that they had looked like this in the movie! at that moment i sensed very deeply the vertiginous abyss that separates one person's selfhood and psyche from another's. some people are out there watching period dramas in a very very different way than i am. and i want them to know. from the bottom of my heart. that they are wrong and i am right
