The weight of all of Portugal was felt deeply upon Ines' shoulders. The revolution was surely all that was on her mind these days, which both emboldened and saddened her. She was proud to lead her country in the fight against the conquering Norway, but it was a task that did not come easily. At every turn, she found plans foiled, spies murdered, tortured, made examples of. She sent good men to die so horrendously. If she said she slept well at night, she would be lying.
After another heated meeting with her council she decided it would be best to take a walk around the grounds to clear her mind. It only helped so much, but the fresh air felt good on her lungs. The salty sea in just the distance filling the air. She imagined the sound of the waves in her mind, and found that to be more soothing than anything. Turning a sharp corner, she found herself nearly colliding with another and gave a small, audible gasp. "Apologies. I was not paying attention, I fear."
