Bloodstream || Knox & Jesse
 shaking their head, a small sob escaped her as he spoke. it felt like all the emotion that was bottled up for this past year was bubbling to the surface and causing knox to explode. everytime he said loved it felt like a stab to the heart. it was past tense, not present. what were they expecting? they had broke his heart, only to do it again by telling him they still were in love with him. how could he ever still love her?  jesse was the most important person in their life and him seeing them like this just made them embarrassed about this whole thing. âI know that now I do.â they managed to blurt out, taking a step closer him. âplease donât cry.â their voice cracked, reaching out to wipe a few tears from his cheek. got they hated that they caused this, that they had hurt him like this.  they quickly moved their hand back, realizing they had lost their privilege to touch him like that. âI know thatâs not what you do when you love someone but I did it and I canât take it back. if I could I would trust me I would in a heartbeat but donât think for a moment that I didnât miss you every fucking second. I loved you, no I still love you so much.â taking a deep breath, knox looked at him almost desperately.Â
 âI know that what I did hurt you and Iâm so sorry for it.â she clenched her fist, fighting the urge to reach out to him.  âIâm sorry that I let my own insecurities get in the way of us and that I was so blinded by what has happened to me in the past that I let that impact who I thought you were.â tears were still pouring down her face. this was it, this was the moment they had been trying to bouild the courage up for these last few days. knox took a shaky breath,their eyes locking with his.â and I understand if you canât forgive me I do but Iâm standing here now and Iâm not running away this time. I love you jesse.â Â
It felt like everything was happening in one quick down fall, and Jesse didnât know what to do, what to say, or to think. It was like his mind was folding in on itself with each word Knox spoke. He knew he couldnât blame them, no matter how hurt he was by them leaving him in the dark with no explanation. It was something he just couldnât do, because he understood their fears, and knew that they were the way they are because of their past. His head dropped as they stepped close, unable to look Knox in the eyes with them that close, it hurt more than he could put into words. He wanted to lean into their touch, but as soon as their skin came into contact with his, it was gone again in a matter of seconds. Unable to speak, he looked back up at them, not even trying to stop the tears that were freely falling down his cheeks. Jesse swore his heart stopped whenever Knox said they still loved him, making his breath hitch in his throat. It wasnât much of a surprise to him, but at the same time it was, because they had both gone so long without addressing their true feelings.Â
Now, it was as if the whole world stopped. He wasnât expecting much when he came here, the least he expected was to get into an argument with Knox over everything, but it was the exact opposite. He blinked away the tears that blocked his vision, taking in a shaky breath and letting out a shaky breath. He wanted more than anything to forgive Knox, he practically already had in his mind long ago, even without knowing if they were ever going to be able to talk about their past relationship, or if they could even come as close as they are now, as they were before. He shook his head, knowing that there was no turning back now. He stepped closer, his arm reaching out to pull their small body to his; not hesitating for a second to connect his lips to theirs in a feverish rush, almost as if he didnât kiss them now that theyâd just disappear. âI love you, I never stopped loving you..â he whispered barely above a whisper, his words shaky, almost as shaky as his hands that were securely resting on Knoxâs lower back.Â
