🌟 180807 Leo’s 1st Win on SBS MTV The Show 🌟

Exactly a week ago, Jung Taekwoon started his activities as solo singer Leo with a solid mini album that perfectly shows off his musicality, versatility, and growth as an artist.

As he entered his second week of promotions, one big gift and surprise came in the form of winning first place on a music show ; u ; Look at how he periodically looked back at his trophy while giving his speech, as if not believing that he is actually holding it 😭💕

We know how reserved he can get when he is alone, moreso now that he is presenting his own work to the world. That could be very nerve-racking but this win could be a huge confidence boost for him; knowing that there are people who appreciate his work and believe in what he can do 😊 There are literal tears from looking back at his growth from being VIXX’s quietest member to this confident solo artist and performer oozing with passion and charisma.

I have not much more to say other than I’m so proud of him and I can’t wait for him to shine even more 💖

VIXX LR “Whisper” comeback concept photos

Made a little something because it’s D-10 til LR’s comeback (and because I’m an insomniac whose brain likes to hyperactively work at 4 AM 😂)

Still don’t know what concept this will be but I’m just too excited over the fact that VIXX’s resident music geniuses are coming back with more masterpieces \(^ヮ^)/ that, plus all the looks they’ll be serving again 👌

P.S.A: This is NOT the actual song they’ll be promoting, I just thought it *kinda* fit the concept photos lol (but hey, listen, what if they DO come out with something like this? omg im shaking)

DAY6 (데이식스 ) “I Smile (반드시 웃는다)” M/V

“There are a lot of things in this world that will disappoint you, but you can trust that DAY6’s music will never” – These are words I told myself during an especially rough time in my life, finding solace purely in the melodies, words, and voices of this wonderful band. To this very day, they continue to prove this every single time ; u ;

Six months into their EveryDAY6 project and we’re now blessed with their first full album which is as stellar as every release they’ve had so far. This particular track gave me really intense Nell vibes but that’s not to say it’s a bad thing because DAY6 always experiments with their music, yet they’re able to make it sound distinctively theirs despite the wide array of genres they’ve tried; it just shows how versatile they are as musicians (plus, I’m not complaining because Nell is dear to my heart as well 😊)

There’s no doubt everyone sings exceptionally well, but in my opinion, Wonpil and Jae really stood out in this and their parts are some of my favorites, also Wonpil’s really sick synth solo in the bridge! There’s nothing but pride and happiness in my heart for these boys. It’s truly challenging to have 2 new songs every month but here they are, breaking boundaries and delivering a masterpiece after another.

Having their first full album named “SUNRISE” feels just right as they are now exactly a year and 8 month old group on the day of its release. With it, they’re entering a new era signified by Congratulations (Final Ver.)’s release. Furthermore, the title songs released from their first two mini albums up to this point all somehow seamlessly weave together the whole story of Congratulations. Contrary to the chronology of the songs’ release, I believe the timeline is something like this:

How Can I Say (the story unfolds in the girl’s POV, wherein she has fallen out of love with the boy but is having an internal battle and hating herself for feeling that way and for not knowing how to break it to him)

Congratulations (now this is in the guy’s POV and where the girl asks for them to re-evaluate their relationship but in their time apart, the girl got together with someone else, leaving the guy in utter disbelief)

I Wait (despite getting deeply hurt in Congratulations, the guy is in this endless cycle of waiting. feeling so lost, he ultimately pleads for her to say if she’ll hold on or let him go)

I Smile (after many unsuccessful attempts to reach out to her, the girl suddenly decides to ask and meet up with the guy if they could work out a time. the guy then feels half excited and half nervous as they’re meeting after a long time and he couldn’t say no to her because he misses her and still has feelings for her–but he couldn’t let her know that. and even though he wants her back so much, all he can do is smile and act as if nothing happened even if it hurts because it might be the only time he sees her again)

Letting Go (they finally meet after everything that happened and they are both speechless. but the guy soon realizes that a happy ending won’t be possible between them anymore and he forces himself to let her go, convinced that without him, she’ll be able to smile and be happy again)

You Were Beautiful (after the break-up, they meet a final time–for a proper closure. even though it’s over between them, he confesses that he sometimes still thinks of her and their memories but he knows they’re all in the past now. to him, she was so pretty and so were the memories they had created. at this point, there are no ill feelings anymore, just remembering something beautiful they once had.

It is only a theory but how wonderful is it that their songs add up to make this one heart-wrenchingly beautiful story ( ; u ; ) No need to subject yourself to real life heartbreaks because DAY6 already have you covered lol

Cheers to six beautifully wonderful months in this journey! I am so ready to be further awed and inspired in the next six with DAY6! To those who haven’t yet, give DAY6 a listen and I promise your ears will thank you 😉

🌟 Five Years with VIXX 🌟

Five years ago, I didn’t know anything about these six men at all. I didn’t know how much talent I was missing out on and I had no idea how much of my life they’ll become a part of.

Four years ago, I chanced upon Hyde on a radio show and I was thoroughly impressed. I would later find out it was a blessing in disguise as I gradually started listening to more of their work and thus, I embarked on my Starlight journey.

Three years ago, I had deeply been enamored by their charms and I’ve come to realize that it is possible to love and be loved back just as much by the people you admire. Their fans are precious to them and they value the close bond we have with them. They made me feel and believe that every single fan of theirs is always appreciated.

Two years ago, I’ve seen them fully spread their wings as artists who have complete command of the stage, and are confident with the style and unique sound they have, even if it is an acquired taste to some. That was also the year I saw them for the first time with my own two eyes. Back then I didn’t know it was possible, but I grew to love them even more after seeing how dynamic and phenomenal they were on stage. Their smiles and laughter brought healing to me in more ways than one.

A year ago, I truly understood what it meant to love and support someone through and through. They took on an ambitious large-scale project which they haven’t attempted before and there were as much bumps and roadblocks as there were triumphs. It was akin to a rollercoaster ride, really. But we managed to pull through and our boys had even more solidified their status as concept-dols that raise the standards every. single. time. I was also fortunate enough to see them live for a second time, albeit missing one member. Seeing their performance was as thrilling and electrifying, if not more, than the first time I saw them.

This year, they enter a new stage as they mark their 5th year in the industry. Such an enormous feat is worth celebrating amidst this new era in K-pop where a group’s life span is uncertain and popularity is measured mostly by charts, MV views, and units of albums sold. Despite that new norm, VIXX is still here, standing tall and strong, and fully embracing the uniqueness only they can bring to the game. And that is what I’m truly proud of about them. They don’t abandon what they do and know best just so they could appeal to the wider public. They make music and execute performances simply for Starlights who already support them because at the end of the day, it’s the fans who will walk with them until whenever.

I’ve been with them for 4 years but I’ve never regretted a single moment. There were lots of ups and downs, victory and defeat, joy and tears, but the most beautiful thing is getting to grow with them and taking every step together towards a new milestone. The journey won’t always be smooth-sailing but as long as we keep supporting each other, we’ll always have a reason and strength to move forward.

Thank you to Jellyfish Entertainment for being VIXX’s second home and family, and for taking a chance on VIXX. They brought together six individuals who have different principles, talents, and strengths but they helped and encouraged them to further develop their talents and realize their potentials. The members started with varying levels of skills but now they’ve all become triple, quadruple, quintuple threats who shine brightly both in a group and on their own.

Thank you to VIXX’s parents and families who had supported their dreams of becoming artists and for giving the members a good upbringing because now, we have such an amazing group to look up to.

To my fellow Starlights, thank you for sticking with VIXX through thick and thin. Problems are inevitable and there will always be people waiting on the sidelines for a chance to pull us and VIXX down -- two situations we have no control over. But we do have control over what we say and do so let’s always be mindful of how and what we speak. Let’s stay true to the Starlight code and always, always strive to be Starlights VIXX will be proud of. Also, it doesn’t matter if you’ve been there since the beginning or if you’ve just recently joined the family -- what’s important is your willingness to stand by VIXX no matter what. And remember, VIXX love us all the same ♥

Lastly, to my six shining stars, thank you for all your effort and hard work in the last five years. I’m glad and honored to have been beside you on your good and bad days. Thank you for the constant love and care you shower us with. You make everything worth it. Thank you for believing in one another, for respecting and understanding each other, for treating VIXX as not just a group/business but a real family, and most importantly, for not giving up on your dreams. As long as we are together, I vow to continuously and tirelessly support and love you the same way I’ve received love and strength from your words and songs.

💗 170304 Uncle Taekwoon and Minyul at Seoulland 💗

It’s been quite a while since we’ve seen Minyul and today, heaven smiled upon us and we received so many pictures and this video of one of our favorite idol uncle-nephew pairs 😊

Taekwoon had taken Minyul to Seoulland for a VIXX TV episode filming which will revolve around his activities during his free time.

It’s always adorable when Taekwoon is around kids because he just gets so much brighter and it’s really obvious how happy he is to be with kids. But when he’s with his nephew, it is extra precious ;; u ;; ♡

Just listen to how gently and sweetly he talks to Minyul ;;; He’d been trying to get Minyul to say “hello” but got smacked in the face instead and he didn’t get mad 😂 Babies and kids really do wonders to Jung Taekwoon lol He gave Minyul a kiss on the forehead too!!! At the last part he got Minyul to say “별빛 안녕/Starlights, bye!” and it is so heartwarming I am basically a puddle of goo now ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ Is it possible to get overdosed from cuteness?? These two are just too much (>u

Also, apparently, it’s not only good looks that run in their family because this video shows how Minyul kinds gives off Taekwoon vibes too! Chic, sometimes looking uninterested, violent (lol), but is actually a sweetie 💕

Ah! Before I forget, little darling Minyul is turning 2 years old (international age) in 2 days! Maybe that’s why Taekwoon brought him out to play today~ 😊

170203 Singing Battle (노래 싸움 승부) Next Week Preview with VIXX’s Leo

This is the show Ken previously went on where he sang “Never Ending Story” by legendary band Boohwal with Block B’s Taeil. Now, it’s Leo’s turn to join and it is dubbed a “musical star wars” episode as they’ve invited esteemed musical performers on the show. For Taekwoon to be with and surrounded by an incredible array of individuals is such an honor. Also, it further cements his career as a young budding musical actor. I am truly proud of him :’)

In this episode we’ll see him sing an iconic trot song “Shabang Shabang” by Park Hyunbin and that is definitely something to look forward to because Leo singing trot is not something we hear regularly lol

Though what had me at the edge of my seat is the last few seconds of the preview because they were performing the Korean version of “One Day More (내일로)” from the musical Les Misérables. The first time I heard it, I was struck with familiarity but I couldn’t be too sure since it’s in Korean and it was a bit too short. But when I searched it up and listened to the Korean version and compared it to the preview, MY HEART LEAPED BECAUSE IT IS EXACTLY THE SAME!!

Because of this, my enormous affinity for musicals had been awakened so I’ve been on a musical high these past few days. Les Mis will always have a special place in my heart and seeing Taekwoon doing a number from it had my heart twisting, turning, and cartwheeling in all directions because that’s two of my most favorite things in the world coming together ;; u ;; Thoughts of wanting to see Taekwoon in a Les Mis production have been rampant in my head as well (Wouldn’t he make a marvelous Marius? Or Enjolras!! Maybe anyone from the Les Amis de l'ABC? I’m getting giddy just visualizing it. A bit of wishful thinking isn’t so bad too, right? //ㅅ\\).

DAY6 (데이식스) - You Were Beautiful (예뻤어) M/V

The second installment of DAY6′s year-long project is here and once again, they’re out to pull on our heartstrings. You Were Beautiful is a lot more mellow than I Wait and it drips melancholy in all 4:45 mins of the song and you will feel every minute of it.

We have Jae starting off the song again and everyone’s singing is excellent as usual. I especially love how their voices are more emphasized/made to stand out more in this arrangement because you can hear every bit of emotion they’re conveying in the song.

As for the MV itself, I love the shots of the boys. Everything’s visually pleasing actually. Plus, Dowoon has more screen time here (YAY!!!) But I honestly didn’t expect that plot twist and I feel foolish for not recognizing the girl initially in the teaser (hairstyles can really do so much lol). This is in fact the continuation of their Congratulations MV, their debut song and boy, OH BOYYYY, my feels are running amok. I thought she looked familiar but everything fell into place when Wooshik appeared.

I can’t believe there was even a hint that this is going to be related to Congratulations! In the photos below, you can see she received an e-mail but from two different people. The first row photos are from the teaser and it says “DAY6″ was the sender while on the bottom row, the sender is “Choiu6″ and those caps were taken from the MV. Now analyzing this, “Choiu6″ is actually “Choi Woo Shik”, the actor who plays the cheated on boyfriend in the Congrats MV!!

After their break-up, Wooshik sent her a compilation video of their moments together – moments that when he looks back at, are nothing but memories from a tale in the past. The lyrics describe what she was like when they were together and even after a painful parting, he still remembers her as someone who was beautiful. There is no remorse nor longing.

If we were to map out all their MVs thus far, Congratulations is the breakup, “what the hell, how could you do that?” stage; Letting Go is the reminiscing, “I’m hurt but I know I have to let you go for you to be happy” stage; I Wait is the desperation stage, hanging on to the last shreds of hope that they could still be together, but also perfectly knowing that the waiting and being left with no assurance is causing suffocation, pain, and unhappiness; leaving us now to You Were Beautiful, wherein he sent that video to finally say, “it was good while it lasted but I’m putting all of those behind me now. I’m done. Goodbye.”

Young K is behind the lyrics again which makes me wonder what exactly did he go through or what inspired him to churn out such heart-wrenching words? Whatever it is, there’s no doubt that he’s a musical genius. Many of their songs are good mood-lifters but those that are about heartbreaks really pierce through you as well. You relate a lot and put yourself in the song’s scenario even if you had not even experienced a breakup ever (or is that just me? lol).

Now that the storyline of Congratulations found its closure (after almost 2 years!!), can we expect a happier, more lively song in March? Because honestly, I don’t know if my heart can handle any more heartbreaking songs from DAY6 ( ;;; —— ;;; ) But I’m not opposing any song they come out with because I’m here to appreciate their music and so far, I can confidently say that although there will be things that can and will disappoint you in this world, trust that DAY6′s music will never.

안아줄게 (I’ll Hug You) - VIXX Hyuk

Having this song bless my ears today was such a surreal feeling for it is the first ever song our dear maknae made on his own ; u ; This is the product of countless sleepless nights for almost 2 months – meaning he might have already been preparing this amidst The Closer promotions and well into rehearsals for the year-end shows.

Our hardworking maknae who endlessly improves himself and takes every challenge head-on has achieved another milestone 4.5 years into debut. I’m so proud of how much he has grown, of what he accomplished, and will continue to delve into. He’s a living proof that if you pursue something you want to be good at and stay dedicated to it, you will for sure succeed.

The general idea of the song revolves around the thought that he had been loved and supported by lots of people unknown to him since the beginning, and now it’s his turn to approach and love them first.

It’s his gift for the Lunar New Year and because he worried that the song still needed a lot of improvement, he made it free for everyone to enjoy. Adding to that his desire for many fans to be able to listen to it. I personally oppose his notion that it is lacking because for a rookie songwriter and composer, he was able to produce such a moving and healing song.

I’m anticipating Hyuk’s future works simply because his first song is already of this quality and we know he doesn’t disappoint on something he’s really passionate about.
