kudarizuki:
the setting sun glittered through the bamboo in the most enchanting of ways, slicing through the air with this useless wooden sword of his. but the force behind every swing was more dangerous than the last, should one get too close, it would definitely not end well for the receiver. one … two - a swing, three … four - another. it was all he could will himself to do in this place, back in their world, he could travel without worry and without the sense of someone or something lurking and watching him with every move he made. and this feeling … it was even stronger in this very moment, the sensation of eyes pouring into kokushibou’s back.
but he was sure no other would venture this deep into the bamboo grove, he has wandered through this grove long enough to know the most suitable distance from all life, and the most quiet place for him to focus. that is … what he had hoped for this time around, but with this feeling of being watched, it caused him to grow more and more irritable. couldn’t they simply make themselves known already? it saves him the trouble of having to call them out on their loitering.
but … what he did not expect was that voice. he halts mid - swing and it’s as if he is frozen in place. this voice … he remembered it well, it was …
❛ it’s you … ❜ he mutters this under his breath in response before he quickly turns to face the source. kokushibou was far from the feeling of shock when he sees muichiro here - it was … bound to happen wasn’t it? he was bound to see the child he cleaved through like paper, so young and yet … he walked the path of a demon slayer, his resolve noteworthy and commendable. the heights this one would’ve reached … if only … ❛ so you … ❜ so he has found his way here … ❛ … what is your purpose being here … so deep within the grove. ❜
“i came here to train, although i didn’t expect to find you.” muichiro had heard that kokushibou was no more, after their battle from before and how it was apparent that he himself had undoubtedly succeeded before muichiro too succumbed to his own wounds. pretty sure the same thing had happened with genya. “so it is true, that even you walk amongst the living. i never figured out how this is possible.” they were both meant to be dead and yet somehow they were all transported here to this city, alive and well.
yes, he was here to train, despite possessing nothing but a wooden sword but finding kokushibou perhaps changed things just a little. muichiro might not be ready to dig into the details, but perhaps doing so would give him at least more of an understanding even if they may not all matter anymore just as he told the other last time.
it wouldn’t be too smart to start attacking, knowing the odds of losing were high and that his strength isn’t where it should be so the demon slayer wanted to maintain caution in the face of his descendant after all, holding his sword close to him on his left. muichiro had told him once before... how he thought there shouldn’t be any more of michikatsu tsugikuni’s blood in him due to the circumstances of kokushibou himself and yet, “but... since you’re here, there are still some questions i wanted to ask you... since i can’t attack you. however i’m not sure if this is a good time.” unless kokushibou wanted to train instead. he didn’t have a problem with it.
