Someone asked me today, "What does it mean to have a healthy lifestyle of prayer?" To be honest, I was very intrigued by the question because recently I have struggled with my prayer life.
Having a lifestyle of prayer is difficult since we are surrounded by so many distractions while fighting our worst enemy, our own flesh. Our flesh will always seek what it is satisfying or brings you pleasure. While, a lifestyle of prayer will force you to make changes and adjustments to your life; it drawsyou away from satisfying the flesh. Worldly thinks will always gratify the flesh while spiritual things will always gratify your spirit and soul.
To build a healthy lifestyle of prayer, we must recognize our weaknesses and find what work for us. We have to recognize that what works for some simply doesn't work for others. Some pray out loud while others are quiet; some like to write their prayers in journals, but some don't; many choose to take a walk while other a long ride. As long as you talk to him, that's what matters. No prayer is insignificant for God. You might write your prayer on a piece of paper, and he will receive it with the same love he receives verbal or quiet ones. He knows your heart!
Making the proper adjustments to prioritize your lifestyle of prayer is EXTREMELY important because you will learn to set time aside to put God first.
For instance, if you have a hectic lifestyle and don't have enough time during the day to pray at least 30 min, going to bed a little early and waking up an 1 hr early or in the early morning to pray can be part of recognizing those weaknesses and making the adjustments.
If you like video games and like to stay up until late night, take your time to pray before playing and then enjoy your game.
When we start prioritizing a healthy lifestyle of prayer, we are sending a big message that God is BEFORE anything (Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you). Your relationship with him will go deeper and eventually will become stronger. So too, your praying time will increase and your prayer will become better and more consistent.
What has worked for you?
God Bless! đđť
No matter the circumstances, praise God! He his the Beginning and the End. The Alpha and the Omega. He knows everything. So be still and trust đđť
Life is like a train!
Many will board until the final destination, while others will depart on its many stops. Sometimes, we believe that life will be insignificant without those who once borded our train. Those who made our journey a little more interesting, brought joy, smiles, or even tears.
Those who departed fulfilled their purpose in our lives. They were there for a reason; to teach you a lesson, to give us new experiences, or to learn their stories/testimonies. Which, in a way, impacted us either good or bad. Each one of those encounters takes you into fulfilling YOUR own purpose; what you have been called to.
So, don't be afraid of letting go of those who need to depart at any stage of your life. Yes, it is painful, and we'll cry, but remember that joy will always come in the morning. Embrace each moment and treasure them deeply in your journey; you'll need them until you reach your destination. In the meantime, don't forget about those who are still part of your journey. They are also helping you right your storyline.
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Matthew 5:4 says, "Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted."
At times, tears are the only words we can speak, and that's ok. It is also valid! Tears are the words from deep inside our hearts. They are the reflection of one that has been torn apart, misunderstood, played, or abandoned. But, we have the reassurance that God gathers all of our tears and treasure them deeply. He won't let none of them fall to the ground.
Indecisiveness can kill the opportunities God has planned for you and the doors that are open before you. You have prayed and cried so much for them, and now that you see them walking, you are scared to walk in?
Pray. Walk. Believe.
Isaiah 41:10: "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God"
Titus 2:11
Called or Chosen?
Matthew 22:14 "For many are called, but few are chosen."
All of us are called but not all of us are chosen. The so-called are those who decide to stay on the shore and just submerge their feet in the water or let the waves touch their feet. But, the chosen ones are those who decide to swim deep into the sea knowing that there is danger lurking. They recognize that despite unstoppable waves, currents, and dangerous marine animals the enjoyment of deep waters is different from the view of the shore. The eyes and senses of the chosen ones decide to experience the world under the sea; the beauty and splendor of it. Yet, the called one, is only satisfied with the things that the shore offers and with images that depict and shows the ocean life.
The ocean is available for all of us to enjoy, but some of us follow Christianity from the shore but others decide to go deep inside the sea/ocean. We all start on the shore but the decision to go deeper with God is what makes us chosen ones. We are called to go deep waters despite the dangers and uncertainty that we might face. We have the promise that Jesus will be with us. Isaiah 43:2 says "When you go through deep waters, I will be with you". Yet, there are some that decide to stay on shore because they simply feel comfortable on it. But, how are you going to fully enjoy your walk with God if you only decide to stay on the shore?
Which one will you decide to be today? Ocean or the shore?
God is an expert in showing his mercy to everyone. There are times when we think that it will be the end for us and the last thing we think about is God. But, there he is, with his arms wide open waiting for us to recognize that we only depend on him. That without him we are not going to make it. We can try but we'll end up falling again into the same cycle. Proverbs 3:5-6 syas "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
Trusting in God is hard. Specially when you have to surender your will to him and give up on things that you want but, is it what we really need? Trusting is recognizing that he is the bridge that allows us to cross to the other side.
If it's not in GOD's timing, no effort can make it happen. But when it is in His timing, nothing can stand in its way!
There is also beauty in the darkness. You might feel scared because you don't see anything around you. But you might be surprised by how much you can learn from yourself.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,â declares the Lord, âplans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Find yourself and your identity in Christ. Until then, you wonât be able to see his plan for your life because you will be doubting who you were meant to be.
The Holy Spirit will never lead you into sin. But there is a type of spirit that will.
Letting go of what you hold on so dearly, knowing that it is not good for you, is one of the hardest desicion you have to face as a Christian. In those moments is where we learn to trust God no matter the circumstances. In the midst of hardship and pain is where we learn to have peace. That peace that surpasses all understanding like Jesus said in John 14:27 (KJV) "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid. "
Even if things turn dark or even if you face uncertainty, don't let your heart be uneasy. Trust him and embrace the peace he gives to you as a gift!
Youâll see this when God knows youâre ready to see it
Priscilla Shirer | God Has a Purpose for This Season of Your Life
Priscilla Shirer shares a powerful message on 1 Kings 17-18, highlighting the journey of Elijah and the significance of the seasons represen
John 8:12 (NLT) Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, âI am the light of the world. If you follow me, you wonât have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.â
Flowers and vegetation needs the sun to live; that is their source of life and energy. Yes, they do not only live off of light, but without light they cannot show their beauty. Darkness prevents them from displaying their splendor and attributes. Even at night you need a lantern or the light of the moon to be able to admire them.
Jesus' light shines upon our lives when we decide to follow him. He will shine when our light is dimming out so we won't stop displaying who we are in him. Our beauty, atributes, and charisma. His light will show us the way when you don't know where to go. It will always point to the direction of life when we get lost. Even if darkness surrounds us, his light will never die. Because of him, we will become a lighthouse for those lost in high seas.
Be the light to others!
