“I’m sure it would’ve been,” Venus said with a soft laugh, taking a sip of the coffee. She was pretty shocked at the fact she enjoyed it, making a mental note to ask him exactly what it was. Being the absentminded person that she was, however, she was likely to forget. “My hero,” Venus straight faced, placing her hand over her heart in an over the top, affected way. “Oh, I imagine so. Very hard to stop once you start.”

“Oh that makes much more sense.” She said with a little chuckle. “I was very confused there for a minute. Then again I don’t always know american customs.” she said furrowing her brow for a moment. “What is it you do?” She said her head tilting to the side.

“yeah. americans don’t really eat fruitcake that much. figures the one time i try it, i go into anaphylactic shock,” venus said with a light grin that reached all the way up to her hazel eyes. “i’m not sure what’s in fruitcake, but i’m definitely allergic to it.” she paused for a moment, biting her lip. “i, uh, i sing songs and tour the country playing them. it’s pretty fun.”

“Baby,” Aaliyah said, repeating the foreign word in English slowly. It was always a shock to them when someone questioned the meaning, having it been such a common pet name growing up. “Can you not make your own burgers? Wouldn’t that be better than risking your health, or your life?”

venus was a little taken aback by the pet name. while venus usually did like to nickname those around her, rarely did she get nicknamed by people she barely knew. “i mean, yes, but i hate getting home and cooking first thing,” venus said with a light shrug. “i prefer to go out and grab some grub before having a netfli marathon.”

“they offer fruitcake when it’s not near the holidays?” She asked cocking her head to the side. Divya smiled a bit though, “That’s an odd hodgepodge of food to offer,” She added a moment later. “I guess I’ll have to go try their burgers though.”

“well, last time i was in town to go there was during the holidays,” venus said with a bit of a blush. “i had to leave for a while for career purposes. kinda glad to be back home, if only to get more of these amazing burgers.”

“Don’t-” Aaliyah put a hand to her head, already feeling a migraine. “batcha, please don’t go somewhere you nearly died again. I’m sure there are better places to get burgers.”

“i have no idea what batcha means,” venus said, her tongue not quite grasping the word the same way aaliyah’s had, “but i mean, these burgers are totally amaze balls. like, they are just the right amount of butter and greasy goodness but manage to not feel overly artery clogging or like you’ve wrecked your diet.”

“No, no hazelnut. I’d hate to poison you with coffee of all things. Pretty sure that’s sacrilege, considering I’m pretty much addicted to the stuff.” Deepak jokes, a soft laugh leaving his lips. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to interrupt you or anything.”

“Oh, good. Then yeah, I’ll take it,” Venus said with a smile, reaching out for the coffee. She shrugged. “Oh, you didn’t interrupt. Probably good that I get yanked out before I forget that coffee exists and faceplant into my journal,” Venus joked - an event that had indeed happened before. “I have a bad habit of forgetting things when I get too wrapped up in the creative process.”

“well, that sounds like a bit of a downer. let’s buy you new shoes! that’ll make up for those shoes being ruined.”

"i swear, last time i ate there i chipped my tooth on their fruitcake,” venus commented with a slight grin, bouncing on her toes with coffee in hand and a take out bag in another. “naturally i also have an allergic reaction to it because of course it has has grapes in it. still, they make some good burgers.”

“so, okay, you know, lays, like, the chip company? they’ve got this one- fuckin’ aged cheddar and black pepper, and i swear, it’s literally food fit for the gods- but they don’t sell ‘em in family size bags! the only places i’ve seen them are in vending machines.” it’s laughable, just how distressed malka is. the most hilarious part is that she’s honestly frustrated about it. “d’you think if i, like, write to them, i could get them to hook me up with, like, a bunch of bags? i’ll pay whatever it takes, but d’ya even think they’d be assed to read my email?”

venus suppressed a giggle, well aware she was no better when it came to food she liked. it wasn’t that she was laughing at malka, it was that venus was laughing at how ridiculous it was that there was a type of chip that couldn’t be found in family sized bags. “maybe i could go on a talk show and complain about this for you,” venus half joked, tucking a hair behind her ear, “because i honestly doubt lays will read emails.”

Juggling two paper coffee cups in his hands, the brunette approaches the first person he sees, clearing his throat slightly. “They had to remake my drink so they let me keep the wrong one, do you want it?”

Venus had been lost in the world of her leather bound journal, admiring the way the black ink flowed from the new pen she’d bought. Her now empty coffee cup had been forgotten, favoring instead the lyrcs she’d started on. Her train of thought derailed when she heard someone speaking, looking up at the admittedly good looking person in front of her. “Uh, as long as it doesn’t have anything hazelnut in it... I’m allergic to them.”
