Inheritance Cycle Big Bang FAQ
What is a Big Bang?
A big bang is a fandom fest that pairs writers and artists together to create amazing collaborative works with a focus on, and inspired by the Inheritance Cycle.
What are the minimum requirements?
Each fic must meet a minimum of 7500 words. The accompanying art must be at least 1 piece.
What content is allowed in the fest?
Works must be set within the Inheritance Cycle, though it can be any period, pre, during or post canon. AU's are also allowed as long as the characters we see are from the Inheritance cycle. While OC's are allowed, 'reader' fics are not as it's limiting for artists, and not suited to podficcing.
Can I submit a mature or explicit fic?
Of course, given the fic is tagged appropriately.
What does it mean for my work to be 'anonymous'?
Anonymous for the fic means that you cannot publicly (on discord, tumblr, twitter, AO3 etc.) post plotting, title, snippets or a summary. You can only share these with a beta prior to claiming. Claiming will be fully anonymous, because we want artists choosing based on the story summary, not based on who is writing it.
Do I have to have a beta?
Yes. All art and fic must have somebody to review it. We want to be creating the best works we can for this, which means fic must be betaed and art must also be beated.
Where can I find a beta?
There will be public lists with contact details of those who have signed up to beta fic and art. Furthermore, after claiming has happened, you can also claim in the beta-finder channel on our Discord.
Does the work have to be unseen for the fest?
Yes. It cannot be a fic you have previously posted and then taken down, or an ongoing work. It can be a sequel, as long as none of the details have posted publicly anywhere, and it can stand alone.
Can I sign up for multiple works?
Yes! However, writers who sign-up with more than one work, will only be able to put one fic up for claiming. For the other/s you will need to find your own artist.
For artists, in the first round of claiming you will only be eligible to claim one fic. In the second round - if after 24 hours there are still fics unclaimed - you will be able to claim a second fic.
You can also sign up as an a fic or art beta on top of this as well.
If you sign up as an author and artist, you will be able to have your fic in claiming, and claim a fic in the first round.
Please be mindful or the fest schedule and your own if you signup multiple times.
How do I sign up multiple times?
Please submit a new form for each fic you wish to submit, and for sign up as an author, artist, fic or art beta.
What are the guidelines for podficcers?
Please check which authors are open to having a podfic for their story made. There is no minimum amount of time the podfic must run for, and it does not have to be the whole fic as timetabling for that can be difficult in the given time.
Am I required to keep in contact with my Author/Artist?
Yes. Generally we expect you to be talking weekly after match-ups, but there is leeway there depending on your schedules. After match-ups we expect you to have gotten in contact within a week. If you aren't getting a response from your author/artist suddenly, please get in contact with the mods ASAP.
