⌈ghost of the past ⌋
mixsen:
okay. this is really starting to get creepy.
mind you, seokmin takes pride in his appearance often. not his looks because he knows there’s only so much your natural-born face can bring you, but he’d say he’s pretty good at dressing himself up. it’s safe to say he’s quite used to feeling eyes burning through his back to the point of no longer being bothered by them. but this? this is
well, then again, he looks and feels as if he got mobbed by ten people at once. no fucking wonder people would stare. he’s lucky he’s not getting cursed at yet for ruining people’s appetite.
so when the customer responded with a pick-up line instead, seokmin couldn’t help but let a quizzical “what” out loud. does he… does he have a scar kink or something?? wait, wait, seokmin. you shouldn’t judge your customers. just smile and play along. maybe he’s trying to say he looks manly… like the rugged-type of manly?
clears his throat before putting back his barista smile. “sorry– what i mean is… you think so?” he assumes his usual cheeky persona. “most people would’ve cursed at me and run out to find another cafe.”
injoon’s mouth ran on instinct. of course he would say this to him. that’s was what they did in the past. surely the other thought he wanted to say aloud was along the lines of ‘you look like shit,’ but that would only be pointing out the obvious.
it was nice that he took him off guard even for a second, but his reaction confirmed that this, whoever this was standing in front of him, was not exactly the same person injoon thought he was. he could stare at the man for hours, studying his facial features, knowing every detail, probably even naming every mark he knew on his body, but the other’s recognition wasn’t there. this person didn’t know who injoon was.
despite that, he still looked like the same son of a bitch he fell in love with.
“i do think so,” he replied back with, lips curling up slightly into a smirk. old habits die hard, and that’s even more obvious to him now when his comebacks arise so easily to the other’s every word. “and frankly, if you knew you looked like that and still came to work, it’s like you’re asking people to say something about that. but i wasn’t looking at your bruises…” ‘i was looking at you.’ was right on the tip of his tongue, but even that was too fucking cheesy to say in any setting.
so he dropped the topic, shook his head and reminded himself on why he was here in the first place. “anyway, i’ll order two iced americanos. my friend will just have to deal with that.”
