First time writing Eryn! Despite not really watching him, I find his lore interesting and wanted to take an attempt at it
There is death in the air. Eryn can feel it on the ground, the way despair has poisoned the soil, the way rot lingers and clings to those that walk by.
Eryn can hear voices on the Prime Path, loud and insistent. Sometimes they are laughing, an echo of joy that gets lost to the wind. Often, they are angry, furious, and crying for someone to make their injustice right. They are confusing, overlapping, and drowning in their own pain.
It’s worse around Tommy. Because there are no words, just screams. Sounds of pain and anguish. Something happened, something drastic and horrible, and Eryn’s silent questions are left unanswered.
He wants to help so badly that it leaves him shaking at night with thoughts of what he can do, at the feeling of helplessness as his friend continues to hide and cower away.
Tommy is his childhood friend. They grew up togetherr: when he closes his eyes, Eryn can still picture the red beanie his mom made for his human friend. Red horns made of soft sheep wool, Tommy’s crooked smile bright as he’s welcomed fully to their supernatural family.
Tommy never once looked at him in fear. Instead, he trusted Eryn around weapons, trusted to turn his back to the half-demon, trusted to sleep with him, and eat and play and simply be. Tommy was Eryn’s first friend; weak and delicate as all humans are, reckless and stubborn in a way that Eryn can only describe as Tommy.
The Tommy he meets on the Dream Esempi is not the Tommy he grew up with. This Tommy looks to the ground instead of your eyes, his voice is hesitant and not fierce, and his body is full of scars that the blue cardigan doesn’t always hide. This Tommy has the mark of Death on his hair, Lady Death herself veiling around him in preparation for something that was supposed to take decades to claim.
Eryn, half-demon that he is, feels at home with her presence on his friend. The half-human part of his upbringing bristles at the faint smell of decay.
Aimsey says this is not something he can fix; that it’s not his job. Trauma has ruined this server; the people are untrustworthy and more willing to stab you in the back than lend a helping hand. They are scared, they are angry, and so, they are dangerous.
But Eryn remembers those knitted horns, the sound of cackling laughter, and the warmth of friendship. He remembers how Tommy used to be and the promise they made to always be friends. His mom used to tell Eryn that it was his job to protect Tommy. His dad would remind him that they were both kind souls, and kind souls often get taken advantage of.
Something happened that Tommy won’t tell him. An open secret that everyone avoids, something shameful they don’t want to admit. His best friend is distant, and death walks in his steps as a second shadow.
Eryn knows these are connected. He just has to figure out how, and then rip it out.
Its hard to capture what it was like watxhing ctommy dying live. Because we were like say sike rn but it was canon. The screen went to black. We watched for days him in prison. He screamed to c!sam for help. He died to a potato, painful bludgeoning. Ans then cc!Tommy raids Philza who turns to the clip and laughs like HAHAHAHA HE DIED TO A POTATO while me and the inniters on call throwing up on the dash. Ans then its like surely not you knoe then I watch every pov mourning stream ctubbo, cranboo, ceret, cjack, like its boom boom boom boom vine boom suicide then Im like okay okayyuuu im gonna be okay they fucking 3 days later tommy is in limbo with fucking cwilbur and he gets yanked out by cdream like holy shit his abuser can kill and revive him agsin and he gets out unable to handle light or touch due to limbo and death and he is angry how celebrated he was when he died and hated when he was alive. Like 5 years ago today was a moment you cant unsee live.
