This month, we continue to explore the darker and stranger side of my small Michigan village. Particularly the creatures and cryptids that have been seen by the locals.

The Michigan Dogman has been seen over the years from Wexford County to Allegan County, Muskegon and Manistee Forest but few know that it’s been encountered at Big Fish Lake in Marcellus by a fisherman and a couple atv riders saw the seven foot tall creature cross Conrad Road towards Pine Lake here in Edwardsburg.

Today, we meet a very elusive creature. Spotted at both Mullen and Goose Lakes, the large, docile Altamaha-ha seems to have found a home here.

This October, I’m sharing a (artist’s rendition) of the various cryptids, creatures and hidden fantastic beasts that have been reported by locals of Cass County - including this charming specimen. A local woman near Hess Street claims that a creature in the marsh tried to steal her baby. The creature in question is indeed a Quallupilluit, a shapeshifter that tries to coerce children to their watery demise.

Well, it’s October once again. My Inktober journey continues into the rare creatures and folklore of my small, seemingly innocent, town of Edwardsburg.

On this day I will begin once more in my attempt to share the strange cryptids, creatures and denizens of the unknown spotted in our village.

It has only been recorded once by a man near Painter Lake in the dead of the night. The gashadokuro is a great beast of lore and legend but was spotted by the homeowner, who was merely looking for his dog, instead he discovered the fabled horror.
