day 37
november 15
the sunrise off the lookout this morning was gorgeous!!! sooo peaceful, even with hayduke there. I see why people go crazy over the pacific northwest!
after the sun was up and we’d had our breakfast, we drove down from the lookout and went to walk around the coast. we saw thor’s well and the sprouting horn. dudes, the ocean is so mesmerizing and so powerful. if we didn’t have to be home so soon we could have stayed on those rocks all day.
I had these flowers in my bouquet and we found them growing on the coast ♥︎
as we drove down the coast, we stopped off to hike a trail in the oregon dunes nra. the dogs have never had so much space just to roam! the dunes were so huge and expansive and serene. we saw two bald eagles! we found a path to the beach, and when we got there it was completely barren. no people or buildings as far as we could see in either direction! I’ve never seen a coast so empty. again, we would have been more than happy to spend all day there, the dogs too.
oh wow 🔥😘🔥
but, we had to go. we pull off of the 101 to catch the sunset and I think I say this a lot because the sky is so mindblowing, but it was one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen. seriously.
for our last honeymoon dinner, we treated ourselves at catalyst seafood in brookings. yummy seafood, $3 margs, and killer white russians made it a really good choice. 😊
we crossed back into california, right back were we started. tonight we’re camping in a beach parking lot, and tomorrow.. we make it back home.

our campsite in the morning light
once we left camp, the first stop this morning was obviously the tillamook creamery. we went wild on free cheese samples and ice cream.
it was super good, but the whole town did smell like cow poo. it’s all about sacrifice I guess.
then we drove down to depoe bay, home of the world’s smallest harbor, and also oregon’s whale watching capital.
we had some clam chowder and then a beer at the brewing co., and did not get to see a whale. we went to the whale watching center, and the guy working said he spotted a gray whale, but he has a more trained eye than we do.
we also saw the devil’s punchbowl and the devil’s churn. oregon is full of ominous sounding oceanic places.
tonight we’re camping right off the cape perpetua lookout and playing some zilch! hayduke had to see what was going on.

this morning we took it nice and slow. we had to finish up some laundry and sara made us a delicious breakfast. hayduke and the baby were playing together all morning and it was one of the most adorable things I’ve ever seen. for being such a psychopath, hayduke is surprisingly good around kids. they were running around all over the house together and playing keep away with a tennis ball, but somehow hayduke knew not to jump on him or trample over him or put his hand in his mouth or any of that.
helping each other find the ball that rolled under the couch 😍
we left around noon and drove down into oregon.
we stopped in astoria for lunch/dinner at astoria brewing co. it was right on the bank of the columbia river so it had killer views and the food was awesome. they also had good beer and it was happy hour, so we made a good choice going.
tomorrow we’ll drive down the oregon coast as we make our way back into california, and for tonight we’re camping just off the coast in tillamook state forest playing some poker.
in this hand I just needed an eight or a club, and logan went all in. the card that comes up- 8 of clubs 🙌🏼
