New Project Hail Mary Fic!
I did it! I finished my super-sad Rocky-PoV fic!
Title: The Last Dead-Watcher Rating: M Tags/Warnings: Pre-Canon, Angst, Hurt/Comfort, heavy on the hurt, POV Rocky (Project Hail Mary), Canonical Character Death, Death, Grief/Mourning, Eridian Culture & Customs (Project Hail Mary), Religion, Alien Mythology/Religion, Hopeful Ending, I have a lot of feelings about Rocky alone on the Blip-A for 46 years okay, No beta we die like the crew, Project Hail Mary Bingo 2026 Summary:
Rocky is the last of his crew. He’s been the last for twenty-three (Earth) years. Every cycle it gets harder and harder to carry on, especially when he knows he’s the worst person for this impossible job. If something doesn’t change, and soon, he’ll be as dead as the crew-mates he cares for cycle, after cycle, after cycle.
Excerpt:
The scream rips through me, bouncing off the stones in the Singhall. The waterfall walls swallow it, and there is no one, no one, no one to hear. I fall asleep screaming.

Writing Update 27 March 2026
The last week and a half have been discombobulated. A friend of mine passed away, so that threw everything into a bit of chaos. If you are the praying type, please pray for R and his family.
I think I am getting back into the swing of writing again though. I am 2/3 of the way through the rewrite of the Project Hail Mary Rocky story, and when I re-read some of what I had already written, I didn't hate it. Hopefully I can get it finished and posted in the next couple of weeks. These long one shots are a BEAR to write.
Writing Update 14 March 2026
Chugging along through the Project Hail Mary rewrite. I think I'm a little over halfway through the rewrite. It is coming together better than I had hoped it would, though I'm not sure that I will get it finished and posted before the 20th. I probably need copious author's notes to explain my made up Eridian culture for this fic.
Anyway, here are the first couple of paragraphs of the Rocky sad in space story. Notes: A Singhall is like a chapel. I've named Rocky's mentor Mickey (after Rocky's trainer in the Rocky movie). All the other Eridians are getting Vulcan names, since in the Star Trek-verse the planet Erid is the planet Vulcan.
I float through the Singhall, performing the usual checks with numb fingers. The waterfalls inside the walls flow unimpeded, rushing at a constant, calming rate. Good. I am glad they are working now. One hundred days after we arrived here and gave up gravity, three of the four pump-and-vacuum systems working the waterfalls malfunctioned. I spent twenty days fixing the system. Engineer Mickey complained the whole time I was working on it, frustrated that she did not have my help with the tasks she deemed more important. But Captain T’Pau insisted the waterfalls be fixed. Some of the crew feared it was a bad sign they had malfunctioned as soon as we reached the Star of the Star Eaters. And they were right.
Writing Update 6 March 2026
I finished the draft of my Rocky-centric Project Hail Mary fic! It clocked in at about 11.5K words. When I finished it, I felt pretty daunted, because those words were rough. Very much me shoving sand in the sandbox to (hopefully) build castles with on the rewrite. But yesterday I rewrote the first scene, and while there is still a TON of work to be done, I think it's doable. Still hoping to get it finished and posted by 20 March. Very much relying on Forty Eridani because I only barely understand base six. Kudos to the brave souls who made this website!
Writing Update 27 February 2026
So, back at Christmas, I bought Project Hail Mary for my son, 16, because he loves hard sci-fi but doesn't like dystopia. He read it in about a day, and then he let me borrow it and I read it in about a day, and then we read that Saving Grace Rocky PoV fanfic and both loved it, and now I just love Rocky and Grace so much and can't stop thinking about them.
All this background is to say that I have my longfics on pause until I finish this Rocky-centric one shot. The draft is sitting at almost 9K. I expect it to be over 10K by the time it's finished. It's a little all over the place now, but I'm hoping to have it cleaned up and posted before the movie comes out in March. It's about Rocky all alone on the Blip-A, but also about him meeting Adrian, and about his engineering mentor. And also an alien religion, because that's how I roll.
Hope your projects are going well!

New Fic: The Boy with the Thorn in His Side
Fandom: MCU Rating: T Warnings: Suicidal Thoughts, Self-Hatred Relationships: Loki & Steve Rogers; Loki/Female Reader Summary:
After Songbird and Loki fight, Loki broods. Steve tries to help.
Excerpt:
Loki is an excellent runner. He goes for hours without getting winded. It is the one sport in which he consistently beats Thor. This is partially due to Thor’s tendency towards boredom. Thor will give chase for a time, then shout insults at Loki’s back, then move on to more immediate pleasures than running his “coward of a brother” to ground. Loki hates running.

hi guys! discord is doing a survey on how people would like ai to be integrated into discord. take it and say fuck no to every question. when you get to "in general, how do you feel about discord inegrating ai features?", respond that you would actively get everyone you know off of discord and wouldn't pay for nitro or other shop items if they added ai features.
watch out for the trap! there's ONE QUESTION where the last option *isn't* the max 'no AI' option, read each part carefully to be sure

The Prince's Poems: A Rash Cry
This poem works for Canon Severus, or for Severus from my Moonlight-verse

A Rash Cry
Back then, I cast a spell of rage, Not knowing it would last an age, And hold me fast forever, in its wake.
My wrongs will never be undone. This cursèd course will ne’er be run. Your laugh, be it for mirth or scorn, is dead.
I wish the gods had killed me too. Instead, I’m left to ever rue Your death, and my rash cry of: “Anything.”

Severus’s heart tears itself in two, trying to hold on to Miranda Rose, his reckless American fiancée, while still following Albus’s orders from beyond the grave. Title: Breathing Underwater Rating: Explicit Warnings: Explicit Sexual Content, Graphic Violence, Major Character Death (not Snape), Swearing (so much swearing) Dubious Consent, Substance Abuse, Panic Attacks, Semi-Public Sex, Dark, Noir Ship: Snape/OC Summary:
Severus Snape is a dirty cop. He’s been dirty for years. After Lily’s death at the hands of one of Tommy Riddle’s boys, he wants to be clean again. But once you’re on the take, it’s not exactly easy to get off of it. When his new partner, Miranda Rose, wants him to use his contacts to avenge a murder too close to home, Severus finds himself in over his head. Too bad he never learned how to breathe underwater. A Muggle Cop AU for RonsGirlFriday, based on her stunning fic, Silence for the Departed
From Chapter 1:
It was a shit day. They’d all been shit days since Lily died.
If he were being fair, he’d admit that they’d all been shit days, even before they’d put Lily in the ground six months ago.
But life had never been fair to Severus Snape. Why would he be fair to it?
It was Lupin that fucked things up this time. The second Severus’d hit the locker room, Lupin was there, saying hello with that sheepish smile he wore whenever he’d done something fucking stupid. Severus barely got his uniform on before he was called up to the front.
Lupin was suddenly way too interested in the paint peeling off the wall.
Great. This was going to be fucking wonderful.
Severus glared at the clock—twenty minutes to Roll Call. Too much time to pretend he didn’t hear the summons. With a snarl, he stalked out into the hallway, the flickering fluorescent lights casting blue shadows on his pasty skin. Would it kill them to use some LEDs? Fluorescents were the goddamn devil.
“What?” he said when he reached the reception desk.
Aurora Sinistra barely looked up at him. “Hello to you, too. Potter’s in the lobby. He wants to talk to you.”
God. Severus had barely wanted to talk to Lily’s husband when she’d been alive. Why the hell would he want to talk to James fucking Potter now?
“Tell him I’m busy.”
Aurora tapped her cherry red nails on the counter. Once upon a time, she used to scratch those down Severus’s back. But she’d gotten sick of waiting for him to get over another man’s wife.
To tell the truth, so had Severus.
“He’s been here for an hour. You’re going to talk to him. Or you tell him why you won’t.”

chapter 13: liar+
chapter 14: no light no light+
chapter 15: the parting glass+
chapter 16: i’m no good+
chapter 17: you can run on for a long time+
“Oh, Miranda. You look good enough to eat,” Greyback purred, and the way he said Rose’s name made Severus want to hurl. “Thank you sir,” Rose said, her eyes on the stake-and-bonfire-show, a vague sense of horror—but also comprehension—in them. Greyback didn’t lead her straight to the set up. Instead he took her hand, soft like a lover, and brought her to a chair by his painting gear. Once she was in it, he produced a comb from his cart of supplies, and started combing her fucking hair, crooning about how pretty it was.
The Ellipsis Problem (…and how to fix it)
Look, I love an ellipsis as much as the next writer. It’s dramatic. It’s mysterious. It makes your dialogue feel like your characters are whispering secrets into the void.
But here’s the harsh truth that I wish somebody had told me when I was still in the age of writing My Hero Academia fan-fiction: if you sprinkle ellipses everywhere…your writing starts to feel…like someone is constantly trailing off…or buffering…forever.
Ellipses are powerful because they suggest absence. But if every sentence trails off, the weight disappears. So instead of defaulting to “…” every time, here are some sharper tools you can use instead, depending on what you mean:
For hesitation → commas (,)
Eg: “I just, I don’t know if I can.”
(This shows stumbling without the eternal fade-out.)
For interruption → em dash (—)
Ex: “I thought you said—”
(Instant cut-off, like the voice was chopped mid-thought.)
For trailing off in uncertainty → ellipsis (…sparingly!)
Ex: “I guess we’ll see…”
(Soft, open-ended, unfinished.)
For abrupt stop → period (.)
Ex: “I thought I loved him. I didn’t.”
(Firm. Closed. Leaves impact without drifting away.)
• For tension/suspense → break the line.
Ex:
“She opened the door.
And froze.”
(Sometimes space on the page is more powerful than dots.)
Think of it this way: an ellipsis is a dimmer switch, but not everything needs to fade into black. Sometimes you need a slam of a door (.), a sharp snap (—), or just a faltering breath (,).
Save “…” for when silence says more than words. But let other punctuation do the heavy lifting when the moment calls for precision.
Because if every sentence trails off…eventually your reader’s patience will too.
