Things I plan on teaching my children

1.) You are the most important thing in my life.

2.) You’re not always going to be the most important thing in everyone else’s life.

3.) There are more important things in life than making a lot of money and owning big shiny things.

4.) It’s perfectly okay to have dark times in your life, they’ll always pass into something bigger and more beautiful.

5.) Strive to be the best that you can. And if the best that you can be is average, a grade of C, or being the tree in the background of the school play, that’s okay.

6.) Regardless of how nice you are and how hard you work, people are going to be mean. People are going to disregard your opinion and treat you like you’re stupid.

7.) Do not answer to the names of “stupid” or “idiot”. Answer to the name I gave you.

8.) Being chosen last for something is okay.

9.) Not being chosen, even though you tried is okay as well.

10.) I will always be waiting with an open ear and a heart full of understanding.
