Changes
For white feminists everywhere
Native American women could not vote until 1924 and even then some nations could not vote until 1957 when states barred them from voting.
African American women were not able to vote until 1964 because even with the passage of the 19th amendment, white women(yes women) intentionally disenfranchised them because African American women activists registered more black women to vote than white women.
Chinese Americans could not vote until 1943.
Indian Americans could not vote until 1946.
And the other Asian American minorities could not vote until 1952.
However, to prevent restrictions such as Jim Crow, no one could vote without scrutiny and prejudice until 1965.
And for LatinXs, 1975 was when you obtained suffrage.
So when Hilary and her campaign talk about how after a 100 years of being able to vote, a woman can be president, she ain’t talking about women who are in those categories above.
