I was seeing all these posts about Charlie Kirk getting shot and people calling it a tragedy and I can’t. Like, I get it, sure, his family is grieving, but when people frame it like he’s this innocent victim they do a disservice to literally everything he stood for. He literally said that gun deaths were an acceptable cost of the Second Amendment. He promoted a culture where kids die in schools and communities suffer, and now people want me to feel sorry for him? Nah. That’s irony at its rawest. He would’ve been proud of what happened today because he always said the cost was worth it. He literally paid that cost himself. I’m not talking about his family. I get feeling sympathy for his wife or kids. That’s theirs. But I don’t owe him empathy just because he has relatives. I know him by his words and his actions and what he chose to put out into the world. He was actively harmful. It’s wild how people want to make this some moral discussion about “oh you can’t celebrate death.” Okay. But let’s be real—he spent years denying gun violence, minimizing it, mocking victims, and defending the systems that enable it. And now he gets killed by the same kind of gun he helped make “acceptable”? That’s reality serving irony on a silver platter. You reap what you sow. It’s not “celebrating death,” it’s naming the truth. You don’t get to be upset about consequences when you spent your life spreading harm. There’s no “goodness” here that outweighs the damage he actively caused. If you want to cry, cry for the kids who never came home, the families who did. Those are the real tragedies.
