Can I be really honest for a sec. I’m getting so tired of seeing people complain that Awsten is only writing fuck you songs for Ciara. If you don’t like the song, thats fine! It’s okay! Waterparks is definitely trying out a lot of experimental stuff with their sound and it’s not all going to be for everybody! But awsten has always shared his life with us (at least the major things that he wants to share) through his music.

Double dare was an album full of love songs, and with entertainment it got a little darker as the relationship at the time was a little more strained. And the breakup was a big thing. The lyrics for both lucky people and now reboot heavily imply that awsten was going to marry her- that’s a big thing.

So yeah, this album is going to have a bunch of breakup-y songs, but it’s no different from the other two albums being about where he is in that point of his life. And personally I really like that because it means the songs come from somewhere honest and are something you can relate to; they aren’t just songs written because it’s topic thats really popular.

and honestly, no one complained when double dare was full of love songs, this really shouldn’t be much different. And yeah people were horrible to ciara online and that definitely shouldn’t have happened but awsten’s never encouraged that (and he’s tweeted explicitly NOT to harass too). Music is just his way of dealing with everything that happened.

this album is going to deal with the breakup, I don’t really know what else y’all expected, and I’m really tired of acting like him talking about it is so terrible.
