Ilmarinen, The Eternal Hammerer, was originally regarded as a sky god; he is a blacksmith and an inventor, and is regarded capable of creating (and re-creating) almost anything. Some of his greatest works include forging the dome of the sky and creating the great Finnish artefact Sampo, an object or device that brought great fortune to whoever owned it. Although Ilmarinen is considered to be immortal, he has terrible luck in his love life and once attempted to craft himself a wife of gold and silver.
