Milo wasnât sure what the time was but he was sure it was late because of the bright moon hanging overhead. The twinkling stars caught his eye as the man stared up into the sky for a few minutes, thoroughly lost in his own thoughts that swam and spun around his head. Maybe it was the crackling of the fire that snapped him out of his own brain, or maybe it was the itch he felt starting to bubble up inside. Whatever it was he was grateful.Â
After downing the rest of his beer, he tossed the can swiftly into his backpack, where it would stay until they found the next recycling bin. âIâm not sure about any of you guys,â he started as he swung his backpack over his shoulder and stood up, âbut Iâm going on a late night adventure. Anyone tagging along?â
âYouâre insane, you know that?â Beck palmed at his eyes, the slightest of yawns escaping his lips. It was starting to get dark out, and while he could accept someoneâs need to go wandering around, wouldnât the more logical option be to do so in the daylight? He locked eyes with Milo, biting his lower lip in an attempt to stop the color rising to his cheeks.  âLike, super insane. What if a black bear comes onto you?â He paused, quelling the thoughts running in his head as he got to his feet.
Frankly, he knew Milo could take care of himself, but there were a dozen possibilities that could come about when wandering aimlessly in the night. Beck ran his fingers through his hair, brown eyes softening as his resolve crumbled. He didnât know what it was about Milo, the way he could be convinced so easily without too many words. Shaking away the thought, he peeked down at his sneakers to see if they were tight enough because he probably couldnât afford to get his face smashed in by a rock that heâd inevitably trip over.  âFine, Iâll go.â Heâd tell himself later that it wasnât for the sole purpose of being alone with the other male. Even if it mostly was.
