She scoffs at his answer about the job. “Gotta earn your dues, huh? You’ll be fine, they’ll be itching to put you on the track by your next evaluation.” Part of why she didn’t go down the university route was her comfortability with the younger generations, but Molly also knew them to be thoroughly biased institutions. “What’re you teaching?”

“Don’t we all have to earn our dues to get our foot in the door? One can only hope, it would be an added bonus to actually be on tenure.” He smiled at the older woman, her words giving him a strange sense of comfort, tenure would mean he would stay put, there would be no more running. “I teach World History. What about you?”

“Well then, I would suggest that you not get caught.”

“Or if you decide to go against the confines of the legal system, be cautious enough that you don’t get caught,” he remarked, a playful note to his voice as he raised the beer to his lips. 

“While you have a point, I still dont necessarily think that, that is the best advice to give anyone. Everyone eventually gets caught, whether they like it or not.” He glanced at the other male, a smile coming to his lips easily before he lifted his beer to his lips to mirror the other. “But you do make a good point.”

“I haven’t even gotten my morning coffee, I’m not ready for this level of deep.” Malia admitted, hair still a messy bun atop her head. She had just finished dropping Luca off, and just barely had a chance to sit down when the other spoke out. “Give me like five minutes to down some espresso.” 

“Fair enough.” Genesis replied, shooting the other a sheepish smile as she picked her notepad up from the counter in front of her. “Can I get you anything else with your espresso or are you just having that this morning?”

“I was just thinking outloud.” Lex said with a sigh as he turned his attention towards the other. “I love that you would defend my honor without so much of a blink.”

“You will not believe what happened today.” While it may not have just happened, the fact that it existed was enough for her to start screaming. She says this as she slumps her belongings down on the table with her following that motion into a chair. “I thought you’d want the gossip, and you were the closest one.” Did she look like a wreck? If she did, she wouldn’t be surprised. She lost all track of time there. “I would have called you first, but my phone died trying to figure it out.”

“Well then what are you waiting for? Tell me what happens before I expire from the anticipation.” Obviously she wasn’t truly going to expire but Luna’s demenor called for the light teasing. Dropping onto the bean bag chair beside the other woman, Gen patted her lap for Bambi to climb on before turning her full attention back on Luna. “Also you don’t ever have to call first. Just show up. You are always welcome.”

“I’m can’t move… I’m too tired…” Camille groaned, dramatically collapsing against the cold, ground, sprawled out like a starfish as she breathed unevenly.

Lex laughed as he sat down beside Cami, wiping the sweat off his forehead. “Oh come on, it wasn’t the bad. You beat my time by a good 30 seconds.” He grinned at her before reaching into his bag and pulling out a water bottle. He extended it to her. “You should be proud.”

“You know, it’s a part of being human,” Camille countered, her smile mirroring his laugh. The faint blush growing as her gaze averted, trying to hide the slight blush. “Perhaps you’re right, I’d much rather spend the rest of the evening focused on wanted company, anyhow.” 

Camille nodded in understanding, “Gaia is clever, too. I’m sure she’ll look out for the both of them, if need be. You do have a dog, too, don’t you? Or is it a horse? I’ve seen it in drawings and admittedly, despite what Gaia says I’m not always sure.” She teased, hoping to lighten and even ease the mood. “I don’t think not drinking makes a person stuck up, just means your priorities may be elsewhere. But I get it, this is my first time out in a long while.” She spoke out before turning to the bar and ordering his drink, along with her own. 

Alexion couldn’t help but to laugh at the mention of Cerberus, reaching in the pocket of his hoodie as she spoke, he got out his phone. He pulled up a picture of Gaia standing beside the large Cane Corso. “I can assure you, he is a dog. Though sometimes I wonder the same thing. He thinks he is a puppy still and tries to climb on my lap all the time.”

He turned the phone so that she could see the picture once she ordered their drinks. “I agree with you. My priorities stopped being about drinking a long time ago. I usually just come out as the sober driver if need be.”

Gen: I think you are probably right and dying would be worse than this hangover so I’m going to skip the coffee iv but the idea was nice. 

Gen: I remember getting shots from Rayvn multiple times from different parties and dancing on the bar until Rayvn pulled me down.

Zane hadn’t expected much when he realized who it was, but was still glad that the door wasn’t slammed on them. Cleo more so than himself.  “The chocolate mint are a top seller, but I’m a sucker for the chocolate sandwich cookies.” He spoke confidently, somehow talking about cookies was easier than anything else. Before he was able to say anything else, though, Cleo spoke up; “I just need to sell more than Jenny, so I can win the camera and badge.” Zane couldn’t help the slight pride as he watched Cleo talk, working to sell her cookies. 

As Cleo began to talk to him, Kyrian turned his attention from Zane to the young girl. “Well, I don’t know how many boxes Jenny has sold so far but I will take 50 boxes of the mint ones and 50 boxes of the kind that your daddy likes and if you find out how many Jenny has sold, and she still has more then I will buy more.” 

Did he need that many cookies? Not really, but who was it going to hurt.

Octavia was quiet as Gen looked over the piece, laughing quietly at her reaction. When she first started painting, she’d probably even offended as if she had gotten it completely wrong. However, over the years she had grown to appreciate her art. It wasn’t an over the top confidence in her work, but she knew it wasn’t bad. “I mean, it’s not a perfect replica. I’m sure I missed a few details, but I’m sure.”

Genesis couldn’t paint, or draw to save her life. It wasn’t for lack of trying, she just wasnt partially skilled in that area, so it was always astonishing to her to see how other people were able to bring art to life. “Perfect replica or not, its amazing and I love it.”

Being around Lex was always easy, but this was an entirely different playing field. There was a part of her that was momentarily enjoying the closeness despite the way it had come about. A breath of relief escaped Cami, though, as the other man stormed off. “I’m just glad you didn’t have to witness the ugly side of me surface, I can only keep my cool and collected self for so long.” She joked, a weak laugh escaping her as she finished off the drink she had. 

Tucking a loose strand behind her ear, a faint blush washing over her cheeks. “Perhaps neither of us really owe the other an apology, but I doubt we’ll be getting one from the culprit. I have to admit, though, I am pleasantly surprised to see you here.” Cami stated, boldly, the liquor definitely helping. “In that case, what’s your poison of choice?” 

“I don’t think it is possible for you to have an ugly side.” Alexion replied with a laugh and a shake of his head, the words slipping out without him even thinking about it. “I highly doubt he will bother us for the rest of the night, if he is smart anyway.” 

Lex paused for a moment, “I didn’t plan on coming out but Rayvn was insistent and he kept Gaia for the night. Not 100 percent comfortable with that, but I know Joey would be there in a second should he call. He thinks I’m stuck up and need to get the stick out of my ass and relax. as for my drink of choice, Bourbon.”
