The group is hired by the Lyrans to assist with an assault into Draconis space, current time is around 3010s
Strike enemy airfield ahead of the main assault to prevent the Dracs from using air support.
Battlefield salvage is not possible as enemy forces will move in to support once the attack starts. Players have a limited time to get in and out.
I forgot to take more interesting pictures...
Quick rundown is that the players learned to love machine guns as they were fighting tanks and infantry primarily. We also learned infantry with field guns are amazing.
Two of our players are relatively new and kept harassing the one player that picked the mechs as all the loadouts have no machine guns and few explosive weapons making the infantry quite difficult to deal with. This is probably one of the few times in the history of battletech where players vehemently wanted machine guns loaded on their mechs.
Hatchetman pilot was angry as he wasn’t able to ax any questions.
Only notable damage to the players was the Panther losing it’s PPC arm leaving it unable to participate in the followup mission as it was down for repairs.
Partikill Solutions are sent to stop a lance of mechs from attempting to break through the line and get to the supply lines.
Players fielded the Vindicator, Warhammer, Hatchetman, and two Condors as support.
The lance attempting to break through were a Dragon, Shadowhawk, Javelin, and Spider.
(not all mechs played by their correct mini)
First prototypes of my 3d terrain show up here.
Also apologies as this will be the most unpainted minis ever on display.
There were many congo lines of death and while the drac light mechs were utterly destroyed the Dragon and Shadowhawk made it off the board. Both suffering rear damage and the Shadowhawk suffering a gyro hit.
All Partikill Solutions assets suffered armor damage and expended tons of ammo but nothing major lost or damaged.
The damaged Shadowhawk and Dragon charge towards a Lyran convoy assisted by four J. Edgars (which one of the players insisted on calling J Edgar Hoovers) using six vehicles that were covering the second line of defense.
This marks the first time that the players had to use only vehicle assets. Also the first time they have made use of air support on a three turn delay.
Partikill Assets used are four Saladins, two Pikes and two Reivers (on a three turn delay)
The vehicle rumble was very interesting, one thing I love about this campaign is getting into rulesets that no one plays with in battletech.
The combat between vehicles is incredibly dangerous as any shot could cripple or destroy you. A pike with an AC/2 in an opening barrage managed to slap the ammo bin on a J Edgar causing it to explode.
The map we use is large enough to keep Aerospace assets on the board so we are using a mix of on board aerospace and the abstract aerospace map to track their movement.
Luck being what it is for Partikill a Reiver managed to headshot the dragon with an AC/20 quickly making the fight even more one sided than it already seemed.
The J Edgars were only able to disable a transport truck but not destroy it before meeting their end. The Shadowhawk limped around as best as it could, but couldn’t survive several turns of fire from Pikes and Saladins. If the Dragon had lasted longer the mission would have been much closer.
Partikill is able to redeem themselves after letting mechs slip through their grasp and able to secure some excellent salvage to boot.
