Always trying to capture the things we love.
I’m so happy to have this human back in my life—and so is my camera.
Back at it with #stepstoolisamust #exploremore #optoutside #sheexplores #PNW @subaru_usa
I like sharing coffee with you, even when you steal my seat and my blanket.
First snow! It's underwhelming, really. (at Portland, Oregon)
January 1, 2016 was a good day. We drank warm coffee, paddled cold whitewater and played with my patient pup. Feelings of #gratitude (at Sandy River)
Yesterday I watched Ro discover the world by the river in the backyard. I admire that she can't ask questions so she doesn't—she just goes. #Rontu #experientialeducation #exploremore #trippingovereverything (at Carmel River)

Experimenting with style and sending art love to friends and family across the globe | #PNW #drawing #sheexplores #nowhereinparticular (at Carmel By the Sea)
It's been fun to get out while the rivers are pumping! We enjoyed scouting the options and checking out the scenery as much as running the river. When we spotted this guy, we decided this was not June Creek | #wrongrun #nothanks #sheexplores #optoutside (at Upper Clackamas River)
Exploring #home #PNW #Oregon is so good. (at Avenue of the Giant Boulders)
Been so lucky getting to know a new run every day this week! This is why #PNW #kayaking #exploremore (at Rogue River Natural Bridge)

Making stuff is like this: it starts with an idea in your head; some type of grand image—I'd even call it an expectation. But as you create, you start realizing that it doesn't look much like you imagined. Sometimes it's difficult to point out what's different about it, and you're unsure if it's better or worse. So you decide to keep going. You're curious. It goes through stages. There's a stage when it's beautiful and you're afraid if you keep going you'll fuck it up, but you continue because you're hopeful it will stay that way. It goes through an ugly stage too. You hate it. You feel you're already failing—you're so far from that plan! But you've given so much time, effort and imagination to it that you're willing to give it more. You keep feeding it colors and ink and you water it with brushes and patience and frustration. You finally let go of the plan. Maybe it's beautiful again. Maybe it's ugly again. Maybe it's unfinished. Regardless, you love it now. You love it because you've spent thoughts and hope and hours on it. You've learned from it. It inspires you to keep going or informs how you will start again. To deny the value of the process is impossible. And, excuse my metaphor, but I think that's how life is, too. (at Carmel, California)

Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing there is a field. I'll meet you there. When the soul lies down in that grass the world is too full to talk about. -Rumi (at Carmel Valley, California)
It's always a happy homecoming #PNW (at NE PDX)
