INTP Study Tips
Iâm sure these go well for others as well. Gleaned from the tips and complaints of INTPs all over tumblr! I canât give credit to each and every one of you, but thank you!
You will have to piece together what works for each subject.
Set parameters.
Make a list of the major topics in the course. And the smaller topics under that. (Donât get too specific!) This will put the course in manageable chunks.Â
Figure out which bits need more studying. If thereâs a unit you know back-to-front, set a short time limit to avoid spending hours of studying you donât really need. (But donât skip it altogether!)
Try to keep track of your notes throughout the year. Taking decent notes during the course has saved my butt many times.
You have to actually do it. Once you begin, things will run much more smoothly.
Make a schedule of the week (or two weeks) leading up to your exam. Try to schedule specific study times. If you know you study better right before the exam, then ensure that you have a block of time with no interference right before.
Take out your study materials and lay them on the desk in front of you before you do anything else. Then, when you procrastinate, you have only your books to come back to.
Itâs really hard to make yourself study. Thatâs ok. No matter how many little motivators you use, it will always be hard. Think of it as a challenge. You will feel great after your work pays off.
Trick yourself into thinking a subject is âfor fun.â You love learning in of itself. Remember that.
Make silly definitions (ones you still remember) when defining terms.
Use colours! Just donât get too distracted with doodling.
Use that killer Ne to explain your subject to somebody else (or to a skull, like Mr. Holmes).
Imagine youâre a writer for your favourite factoid book/website, planning an article all about the course youâre studying. I use a âlist of listsâ where I make lists of everything possible, and imagine the summaries Iâd give for each concept.
Donât get âstuck.â If thereâs a small detail thatâs bugging you, please, for the love of G-d, limit the time you spend on it to 5 minutes.
Ask questions. Sometimes just asking the question can pinpoint the issue youâre having. Donât be afraid to ask for help and to explore ideas.
Find what gets you âin the zone.â Try to learn what environments are conducive to studying, what habits help, and how to motivate yourself. You wonât always be in the mood.Â

INTP Problem #54
Not knowing how to react when somebody calls you their friend.
(Maybe turning into a puddle is the best option!)
thank you for all the submissions!! I will be publishing them soon, I hope. Iâll get to yours eventually!Â
Suggestions, please!
Share some of your problems with me!!
I mean, not to sound too enthusiastic about your frustrations, misfortunes, and quandaries...
INTP/INFJ long distance relationship? I love my INTP. However, I feel as if I always have to initiate everything we do (calling, meeting up, making plans). He tends to sit back and enjoy the ride a lot. He doesn't like to leave home and seems very afraid to let loose and live life. I feel that if I stop doing as much as I do, our relationship will die. He moves very quickly and has already claimed he's in love with me (we've only been together for 3 months). Am I overanalyzing? Or is this normal
Hi!Â
Itâs definitely frustrating when you feel you have to initiate everything in a relationship. Perhaps your INTP doesnât realize youâre feeling this way about your initiation. Have you tried bringing it up with him? Communication is really important in relationships. You can be honest.
Maybe him saying âI love youâ is his way of being an active member of the relationship, he prefers nights in, and he admires your opinions and choices so he follows along.
I donât know if this is an MBTI based answer, but communication is important for everybody! INTPs like learning and like getting new information -- I canât imagine him being upset knowing that you want more out of him. Try to work with him to find a comfortable balance with the both of you.Â
Good luck!
about followbacks
We donât run this tumblr as a primary account -- as such, if we did follow you back, it would be under different handles anyway. Sorry, especially to all those cool MBTI-related tumblrs out there!
INTP Problem #53
You have an underdeveloped Fe; your friends think you're soul-less because you CAN'T show emotion the same way they do!
(Thanks, Anon!)
INTP Problem #52
Not talking much doesnât mean youâre less smart, but people sometimes think it means that.Â
On the plus side, you can totally rock the strong (?) and silent type.
(Inspired by alexislytherin, thanks!)
INTP Problem #51
You find it difficult to feel strong emotions about yourself/others/sad things, but you are incredibly invested in fictional characters and pet theories.
(Thanks to an Anon for a related ask!)

INTP: (thinking) Oh so this happens because this happened before and affects the rest of the sequences... I understand now! *moment of exhilaration from understanding"
INTP: (trying to explain theory to another person) Uh, well, you know this happens because of this-- oh wait no because of this, and, uh, when this happens that can happen... you know what, just ask someone else.

INTP Problem #50
W I K I P E D I AÂ
B I N G E
I'm an INTP female and my biggest struggle is being underestimated I have people younger than I am talking down to me people assume i'm stupid and pat me on the head no one takes me serious it seriously makes me sick and depressed any advice?
Hi!
Itâs painful when people assume you arenât as mature,as intelligent, or as thoughtful as you are. INTPs are often untalkative, and some people mistake this as having nothing to say.
This talking down reflects more on them than it does on you. Perhaps they habitually overexplain to people, or their default assumption is that people know far less than they do. Â It could be that they are shallow, thoughtless, or bad listeners. Itâs hard to feel ignored, but it really does show more about who they are than about you. People often talk down due to ableism, sexism, or just plain misconceptions about how valuable and intelligent the person on the other end of their conversation is.
One thing I find helps with getting people to listen is ensuring that they are focusing on you before you start speaking. For example, saying âI have an ideaâ at an appropriate time and waiting for the focus of the conversation to turn to you makes sure that your words arenât missed.
And patting you on the head? Gross. Iâm sorry you have to deal with that, it would make me sick too. Iâm not sure how to deal with that kind of thing, do any followers have advice?
INTP Problem #49
Avoiding new input, since it can literally change your worldview. You may not be in the right emotional state for your circuits to be fried. Again.
(Thanks, duskblood !)Â
I tend to be super shitty at making decisions but more specifically at the "hey do you want this or that" type of questions to which I usually end up answering "whatever" or "whichever one you want" and it was actually brought up to me recently bc people wanted to know if it was because I felt like I was bothering them, which isn't the case. It's just in my brain it really doesn't matter or I just simply tend to avoid taking decisions, is this like an INTP thing or it's just me?
Well, INTPs are perceivers, and their extraverted function, Ne, is a perceiving function. According to MBTI, this means that they can quickly examine many possibilities. Coupled with Ti, the dominant thinking function, INTPs feel the need to think through each of the scenarios that Ne summons up. All of this makes decisions difficult! For small things, itâs often easier for INTPs to just hand the choices over to somebody else.
