The quilt!!! The Good Luck quilt !!!! just there on instagram with 60 likes on it!!!!!!!!! oh man i was looking SO HARD. i've started to do a guide to all the good luck symbols that were on it but my quest is basically over!! The edges of it aren't clear, but this is basically everything we DON'T see in the film! oh man, I feel lightheaded.

In my personal hc I base a lot of Nexus City's culture from USSR: the society-forming cult of the leader, brutalist architecture (although Nevada as a whole has that, but Nexus has that ✨style about it), censorship, rallying everyone to work for the greater good of existence (in reality, for the leader only) —
And a lot of thinking goes into the city stands a ghost of its former self in the present post-apocalyptic day, soviet propaganda mosaics being in bad shape as example below.
I'm not an expert in any of these fields, just happened to grow up in a small national town that didn't see much progress after the *ussr_collapse.mp3*. Also I'm sad about such unique pieces of architecture decaying into nothing, so I will be showing examples of my surroundings (republic of Kalmykia).
All photos, documentation and honestly, inspiration are taken from @e.gederim on instagram(check out her telegram channel as well!), she's actively preserving and digitally restoring slowly decaying mosaics as artistic history of Republic of Kalmykia.
There was a huge mosaic trend in citybuilding from 1960-80s so that new buildings would be adorned with depictions of "glorious future", celebrating ideals of communism and nevertheless, the local culture. Bright colours, determined strong people, space, abstract pieces that really invoke that sense of epicness and patriotism? Large stoic faces look at you reassuringly and you wish to be like the muscular yet elegant people of these mosaic pieces.
Except that the promised future never came. These epic mosaics today are vandalized to bits and pieces. A lot of them were made uniquely for each intercity bus stop, but now they stand reeking of every human waste possible, covered in ads and writings. On the second photo, covered and partially destroyed so a mall could be there.
Thinking of few survivors left in the residential sector who pass by detached, heavenly depictions of greater good everyday as they just try to survive a day more.
There's that inherent longing for the past, especially one you didn't even see, so all you know was that these walls that shield you were brand new once, and maybe everything was better before. Office buildings that feel like they were stylishly decorated once, now stuffy, cold and reeking with sadness. And zombies, of course.
The city that continuously slowly dies and becomes a mockery of its past self.

Oh nooo I hadn’t noticed that my cat’s automatic feeder was getting low on food so as usual she dashed off when she heard the machine start but I couldn’t hear the usual sound of her food falling into the bowl so I went to look and my poor cat was just. Sitting there. Staring at her empty food bowl. Then for a second she glanced up at me then right back to her bowl with the biggest, saddest, most bewildered eyes you could ever imagine on such a small creature. I filled her bowl and the machine right away ofc but I still feel a little guilty 😭
