things you need to hear, but no one will tell you: rp edition

you are a great writer. if you believe in yourself, you can do anything you set your mind on. do not - i repeat, DO NOT - let anybody tell you otherwise. don’t ever lose sight of your goals, anything is achievable if you believe you can do it!
a few things for you to keep in mind:
you can rp with whoever you want to. put a starter in someone’s ask box, take the leap! don’t be afraid, we all love attention!
you are not obligated to rp with anyone. rp with people you’d like to trade writing with! if you don’t want to rp with someone, politely turn them down. an explanation is not necessary, but at least let them know.
you are allowed to ask for help! we would love to assist you in improving your writing; don’t be afraid to drop questions in our ask boxes.
you do not have to write smut or nsfw material in order to gain followers or to get more people interested to write with you.
if someone ever makes you feel uncomfortable, in or out of character, tell them. if they continue, you are allowed to ignore them, you are allowed to report them, and you are allowed to talk to someone about it.
if someone doesn’t like your writing, fuck them.
if someone doesn’t like how you portray your muse, fuck them.
if someone tells you they don’t like who you’re rping with, fuck them.
if someone doesn’t like you, seriously. fuck them.
for every person that will give you hate, there are plenty more that love you.
stop caring about what other people think of you, and start caring about yourself. though the majority of the people in the rp community care for each other and look up to each other, they don’t know you in real life, and their judgements ultimately won’t matter.
remember: the first twelve publishers that j. k. rowling gave harry potter and the philosopher’s stone to turned her down. it wasn’t until a whole year later that the book was published. imagine how dumb all those publishers feel now.
you are good enough. believe in yourself!
