Zellerite
A rare carbonate mineral that is primarily found in the weathering zone of uranium deposits.
It is white-yellow to bright lemon yellow in color and was named after the geologist Howard David Zeller who originally discovered is at the Lucky MC Uranium Mine in Wyoming, USA.
Zellerite is a weathering product of Uraninite-Coffinite and required an environment with a pH above 7 and a high partial pressure of carbon dioxide.
Due to its rarity and radioactivity it is mainly sought after by collectors and researchers. It is not commonly used for industrial purposes but can be useful for studies relating to uranium and its compounds.
It also often displays bright green fluorescence under UV light.
These two pieces originate from the Uranus Mine in Kleinrückerswalde, Annaberg-Buchholz, Erzgebirge, Saxony, Germany.
