He’s only a boy, too young for any of this, but Iron Born the same as her. Robert Baratheon has taken her eldest, and Ned Stark her youngest, but above all, she blames her husband. The music box she’d stolen from a Northern girl years ago is shattered along the wall, but Maron does not know the results of this rebellion. 

Alannys turns, forces a smile for her boy, and gestures for him to come to her. “Because they mean nothing to me. Not when I compare them to you, your sister, your brother...” She almost says brothers. She’s raised her children to be strong, true Iron Born. Alannys can’t help but resent it now. 

“You know I love you, yes? Your brother and sister too?”

At least my son remembers to tell me he loves me when he avoids his haircuts. Could be worse.

Headcanon time!

Alannys has very bad depression and dissociative amnesia that developed around the time her eldest sons died. She’s very not well. Theon being taken as well doesn’t help at all. 

However, at least one of those sons surviving lessens the weight on her mind, and she functions a whole lot better.
