concept idea that the shard of verso's soul in the canvas was "updated" in a way every time real verso entered so some of the inhabitants though not all were based on people he knew through his life long after he was a child

crying a bit about lune again because it’s established people who carve chroma and pictos into their persons are considered crazy which means lune likely didn’t have any help when she did it and it’s heartbreaking to think of this girl who lost her parents, cut out her friends, etc carving the marks into her skin despite the pain and the elements ripping at her. failure is not an option and she will accept nothing short of her own success to save lumiere

he's not a good person. he never has been and he knows he likely never will be. something within him is broken, unfixable. about as broken and unfixable as the scars of his mangled face. (surgeons did what they could, but he's still a jagged edged jigsaw.) he recognized her from the moment he saw her at that diner on such an unfortunate day. she's as broken as he is, he likes to think. (people don't do what she does if something within hadn't shattered.) and maybe that's why he took the seat across from her – started this unlikely friendship. if one could call it that. brows furrow as he speaks his own admission. he doesn't care about the fixing part, just wants someone to be around who understands his levels of misery.  ❝ coffee,❞ he murmurs, dark gaze flicking from his folded hands on the table over to her. ❝ i could go for a coffee. ❞ his eyes flit passed her wild hair, surveying the area. if there's one thing he knows, you never know who might be around. Agonies were provoked by the poorly concealed twitch of the lady's lips behind her raised glass. The sort of teasing he had, as a younger man, found quite attractive in another. The very same whose recent engagement had left him clinging to every syllable that Miss Greengrass had to offer him. A suitable distraction, but not without those fleeting and painful reminders. If only he was currently aware of how trivial affairs of the heart were when compared to matters of mortality.

His good humor, at least in part, was restored. Astoria knew better than anyone that there was rarely anything to relate at all. No gossip notable and no scandal truly unique.
