veins [veyns]
1.) Mommy is getting ready to go to the beach and she looks sad. She rubs the backs of her thighs and looks like a teenage girl who is young and a little defeated by the world. I think that I’ve never seen her look more like myself. 2.) I’m in a napoleonic wonderland and I feel so at home in my own bones. I’ve never felt like my body is a kingdom to be loved until now. I trace a finger gently over the blue rivers that run up my forearm like lines on a roadmap and smile because they are the same color as aquamarine jewels. I am a delicate and strong little princess here in my veins. I am a queen fit to rule. I laugh a little. 3.) If you look closely at roses you can see their veins. And so it is with many things I think.

absence [ab-suh ns]
1. It only hurts if it hasn't always been this way. You were never important to me. You have no space to fill. 2. You are five years old and are a pumpkin and your tongue has a new place to wiggle around in your mouth. You have a jack-o-lantern smile and you get treasures under your pillow. You feel grown up. Bigger. Technically you're smaller since a part of you is missing. But you feel bigger and your smile feels brighter. Probably because the light inside can shine out now. You little pumpkin. 3. It aches a little. That's a lie. It consumes your chest. You are homesick for too many things that you've never experienced. It hurts like blue grey paint smeared on a canvas. It hurts like thick brushstrokes. It hurts like a nagging headache thrumming on your right temple. There is something missing in your chest and you won't get it back until you travel to somewhere you've never been. - @ireallyhatetea
