For a friend
An auburn hare runs through the burning wood where pretty petals rise in wilting ash and dry grass raze and flare in a flash. The hare runs and sprints, flees in a dash yet zigs and zags in haste so rash. The hare hops and jumps as it should, with naught a thought on whether it could. It speeds through dark and orangish reds with but a thought within its head. Running, jumping, fleeing forth, it catches quick in thick theiving webs of jeering jabs and tangled retorts, the bed of a weaver of a lost court. Judges and jury lay down the law, the hares to be damned by tooth, fang and claw. The fires encroach and catch aflame the corrupting restraints holding reign of the quick-footed hare, now crisp and bare... Something curious shakes itself free, breaks through the shell of what it used to be. An odd little thing, dark and new carries the bones of the home it knew. it's padded toes spread and dig to meet the sheet of ashen earth underneath and as it echoes it's call through the plane, brilliant moonlight falls amidst rain. a murky world, suddenly insane, a limbo of loss and putrid pain. Ashen waters, riddled with rot, consume, entomb, and tear at thought. Odd new beast sets it's sights high, and glimpses the light amidst a dark sky. Rising, with hope, it ascends to see a reflection of what it could be. Powerful and pure, the reflection seems sure, it speaks strong words that embolden and assure. Strange dark beast, fights its way through, and breaks the surface to a world anew. Yet the deep speaks as it's tendrils creep and calls to cease and fall in sleep. So Big bold beast of soaken fur, weighed down by the bones of yesterher, shake off your shackles and shell, you'll see, it's much easier to breath. The tendrils snatch and snare at things your naught to fetch and bear, allow yourself to breath free of things that'd see you bleed to share. A summoning born of things rare or kind words born of love and care. Perhaps a tale, mislead and ill-fed, but all the same, echoes fair. So rest your feet, and ease your heart, raise your bow and set your mark. Your new tale awaits your start.
