hey so i dont think im ever gonna be normal about adam feeling constantly pressurized to submit gender norms - becoming obsessed with the idea of becoming someone else aka a "true man" like he thinks his father wanted, feeling ashamed for being weak and small as a child yet still trying to talk his way through conflict rather than fight despite being told multiple times it wont work. i dont think im ever gonna be normal about them having boys dont cry, a song where a boy is unable to escape those internalized societal pressures as well as toxic masculinity - play twice during the highly emotional points of his story. im not ever gonna be normal about adams father telling him he never wanted him to be someone different, how he was a sweet boy and he only wanted him to be strong and prepared for the world around him. i am never, ever going to be normal again actually
adam’s prince outfit was the best look of the movie #sorrynotsorry
and it only got a minute of screen time 😔
my perfect prince that isn’t afraid to wear pink 🩷

A feeble, worthless child. You may have the power, but you're too scared to use it. And you don't even know how.

Deregulation just means a shittier version.
I'd be down with more "modern witches" if they were less all about indigenous cultural appropriation and more about bubbling cauldrons and cackling into the night
"I want to reconnect with my precolonial european pagan roots" then stop selling dreamcatchers on etsy, you should be eating turnips and yodeling.
I don't think there's a single nation with more right to this proverb than Haiti
We deserve food that's safe to eat. Just fyi. That's like a basic function that our government should be performing. You know, instead of slashing regulations so corporations can cut corners at the expense of everyone else's health.
the first description of carrie on the first fucking page of the book is "Carrie stood among them stolidly, a frog among swans. She was a chunky girl with pimples on her neck and back and buttocks [...]" like can we be serious
you can whinge about how "fat in the 1970s isn't actually fat" but for all intents and purposes to the narrative and the characters within it she is, functionally, fat. she is treated like she is fat. she is stephen king's version of fat. the distinction between "real fat" and "fake fat" means very little based on the way the book and everyone inside it talks about her
also I just read a LinkedIn post that suggested that young men shouldn't be hired for important business roles because studies show 26% are addicted to some form of betting/gambling site---therefore, giving them access to material that will determine stock prices is an insider trading hazard for any business. I'm not saying it's a good argument, and I wouldn't be too surprised if the author was doing something tongue-in-cheek ala Modest Proposal.....but I would be fascinated to see where "actually, young men are too emotional and prone to spending money frivolously, let's hire that female candidate instead" would take us as a society.
joining the war on kids reading any book they want on the side of kids reading any book they want. simply you will be fine. it's even good to be confronted with things you don't understand and even find upsetting, uncomfortable and difficult. it's a surprise tool that will help you later.

literally ok so not a funny story but kind of funny? when I was nine I encountered rape in a book and I was like hey mom what’s this mean and she explained it and I was like oh. gross. and then like two weeks later a girl on the bus abruptly disclosed her csa and we were all like ????? what ???? but I was like wait hang on there’s a word for that ☝️🤓 and explained what it meant and that it was illegal and that you could talk to a teacher or my mom if it had happened to you and everyone was like ohhhhh I see I see and very somberly comforted the girl (she was safe she was removed from her home and living with my neighbor at the time so it wasn’t Urgent)
And this is a perfect illustration of why it is important for kids to read or variety of things, and why abusers don’t want them to.
duckduckgo fuck yourself
trying to search for like the one thing that treats us like any other girl for once!! only to be met with a reminder that we are considered a porn category first. it makes me so very sad and upset.
you can have this it is real
I met the girls selling this today at a local zine thing and they said it'll take like a month to restock "because it went viral on tumblr" lol
they still have stickers and another mini-zine though :)

the memeification of fascism is a proven method of perpetuating and instilling it in other people. Layers of irony will not protect you once you adopt racist, sexist, ableist, transphobic terminology into your lexicon. you'll be acknowledging and nursing the mindsets and connotations borne of those words.
