“you’re supposed to believe me because you trust me.” riley hated how sad she sounded and she would have done anything to change it, but she knew she was telling the truth and she wasn’t gonna back down when she was. though if they didn’t have trust, would they be able to make it work? sighing softly, she wrapped her arm around eliana’s waist and moved her out of the bedroom, more so that they could talk rather than anything else. “i know how sketchy it looks, alright? i know that i’d be reacting the same way as you if i’d walked in on something like that, but i’m asking you to trust me.” letting go once they were in the living room, riley took hold of her hands instead to keep her close, worried that if she stopped touching her, eliana would walk away from her for good. “she was drunk, i brought her back to mine because i didn’t want to put her in a taxi on her own.” at the end of the day, she thought she was being a good friend and she was gonna stand by it. “she ended up passing out before i could make her put more clothes on and then that was it. i wasn’t gonna sleep on the couch in my own apartment and i didn’t see the big deal in two friends sharing a bad so i got in next to her.” if she was drunk, she wouldn’t have been able to remember all of it. “you don’t have to believe me, but it’s the truth and that’s all i can give you. i’m sorry.”
❝ i do trust you, and i want to believe all this –– ❞ a sigh passes through her lips, hands running through her own hair, ❝ i really, REALLY do. ❞ & that was the truth, eliana genuinely loved riley & maybe that’s why this hurt her so bad, because she was scared of being without the blonde ; though she would never admit that to herself. as she was led out of the bedroom, the brunette kept her gaze steady on the floor, not resisting when riley took her hands. she listened, intently, as her girlfriend explained herself, chewing on her bottom lip nervously. the story made sense, every detail simply pointed to the blonde being a good friend. nevertheless, eliana still doubted everything, something in the back of her mind was still leading her to believe that she was being deceived. she just kept reminding herself that riley wouldn’t do that to her, right ? she takes a deep breath after the other is done speaking, her eyes look up at her girlfriend for just a moment, before dropping back down to the floor. ❝ i... i believe you. ❞ el mumbles, giving the other girl’s hands a gentle squeeze. the girl typically isn’t the type to admit her faults, which is why her speech has dropped to such a hushed tone. ❝ i overreacted. i wish you would’ve texted me or something, i don’t know, just to let me know. ❞ she rambles, her line of sight still locked on the ground. ❝ scratch that, i don’t want you to think that i feel like you need to explain yourself to me. i just, i.. ––– yeah. are we cool ? ❞
