that stupid grin doesn’t leave her lips as she unfolds the note once again, just to make sure that this was all real, that someone actually had something nice to say about her. the sound of his voice causes the poor girl to nearly jump out of her skin. she turns quickly, cheeks heating up as she clutches the note close to her heart,   ◜ oh ! ◞ she bit down on her lip as he spoke. evella shrugs a bit,   ◜it’s fine   i’m used to it at this point. ◞ she’ll admit, tucking her hair behind her ear as she spoke. evella honestly couldn’t remember the last time someone wanted to start a genuine conversation with her. this along with that note almost made her forget about the threats of those other cheerleaders. maybe things were finally looking up for her. her heart flutters as he smiled at her, she even returns the favor though her smile is less wide. it’s still a bit cautious   could you blame her ? she scrunches her nose at his question,   ◜can you really be OK if all anyone ever does is make fun of you ?  ◞ she’ll shrug again. almost throwing away her comment, as if it wasn’t as big of a deal as she believed it to be. her blood ran cold as he spoke, finally piecing this all together,   ◜ she’s having a hard time ?  so that just makes it okay for her to make my life miserable. ◞ she shook her head,   ◜ that’s rich.  she literally threatened to make my life even worse becauseyou were trying to stand up for me.  i’m sure she’s really nice though. ◞ she’ll roll her eyes, before gearing up to walk away from him,   ◜at least you didn’t call me easy evella.  ◞

blue understands how she’s feeling. she’s entitled to feel this, granted, but he feels so bad about the constant tormenting she faces on a daily basis. he puts his hand on her shoulder to prevent her from walking away so suddenly, ‘ wait. ’ he slams his locker shut and leans against them as he sighs deeply. ‘ look, that was a horrible excuse but — you said she threatened to make your life worse ? when did she say that ? ’ his forehead furrows as his brown hues exhibit genuine concern and worry. he’s not sure what exactly his girlfriend’s capable of but he’s seen her really do horrible, unnecessary things to other girls that really didn’t quite deserve any of her torment. ‘ look, i just…i’m not like them, OK ? i really don’t like seeing them do this to you on a daily basis. yeah, they’re my friends but something has to stop right ? ’ he opens his mouth to say more but unfortunately, the bell rings. he shuts his eyes in defeat as he moves away from the lockers and gathers his belongings for his class. ‘ just so you know, i definitely don’t think you’re easy or whatever those dumb names they call you. you’re great. ’ he flashes her a warm smile before waving before adding, ‘ i’ll see you around ? ’

evella usually got through homeroom and first period with her head held low. she found that if she stayed in the back and made herself nearly invisible, the taunting wouldn’t be so bad. unfortunately, that soccer guy’s “heroic” act that morning just put a bigger target on her back. a couple of cheerleaders pulled their seats dangerouslyclose to evella’s, ‘ i guess easy evella made her way to the soccer team. ’ one of them giggled which warranted a high five from the others, ‘ is that why blue decided to stand up for you this morning? ‘ this time another one was speaking, this one had blonde hair, red lips and a mission to make evella’s life a living HELL. evella immediately shook her head, promising she had no idea who he was, ‘ good, because if i see you anywhere near him, i’ll make sure this little nickname of yours is the least of your problems. ’ with that, the bell rings and evella nearly flies out of the room. that threat made her want to vomit, those girls had so much power in these halls, who knows what they’d do to her. filled with an remarkable amount of dread, evella opened her locker, shocked to find a note sitting inside. the girl unravels the sheet of paper, she couldn’t help the small smile that crept onto her lips as she read it. though, there’s a bit of a frown once the note is signed anonymous. with her smile returning, she folded up the little note before sticking it into her book.

blue races down the hallway to his locker to pick up his other notebooks. his locker isn’t too far from evella’s, so he’s able to see the small smile that creeps onto her face when she reads it. he finds himself smiling too but shrugs it off before getting some books from his locker. he sees that he’s still got a few minutes to spare before he eventually has to go to his other class so he clears his throat and smiles at evella politely.  ‘ um,’ he begins awkwardly, raking his fingers into his brown hair nervously, ‘ i’m really sorry about this morning. they can be a bit intense sometimes. ’ he offers her a wide smile as he takes his hand out of his hair and stuffs into his pocket as he continues. ‘ i…are you OK ? i mean…from all that’s happened. ’ although he genuinely wants to make sure she’s fine, he’s still looking in his peripheral vision to see if any of his friends are in the hallway. luckily, they aren’t. that would mean less ridicule for the both of them. ‘ my girlfriend’s really nice, once you get to know her i suppose. she’s just…i dunno…she’s having a hard time. ’ he bites his lip; he knows it’s half true and half a fib. but he can’t tell her that. ‘ i’m blue by the way, ’ he extends his out to her hand, ‘ and you’re evella, right ? ’

SADIRA LET THE  other lead her into the room as she took it in. it hadn’t been long since she’d left this place, but it felt more like home than any other place she’d been. this was her home because it encased the only person she’d ever called home. as soon as the other came back bearing gifts, sadira instantly took the sweatshirt from her hands. she covered her upper half with it and shut her eyes. it smelled like her love, and she’d decided right then and there that she’d love to never take it off. she was finally getting that feeling back — the feeling of being loved and loving and being cared for and caring for someone. she was comfortable, and she suddenly never wanted to be uncomfortable again. she followed the girl to the couch, sitting down right next to her as the girl was speaking. sadira made herself comfortable, instantly grabbing the other’s hand and cuddling into her side.   — ❛ i missed you . ❜

ari wraps arms around sadira’s waist as she exhales, ‘ i missed you, too. so very much. ’ she’s honestly really that sadira’s back in her life. she will admit, she’s still a bit hesitant to this. however, she can’t let her go yet; maybe this time, things will be different. deep down, ari’s sure it will definitely be. ‘ what exactly did you miss ? is it my cute smile ? my charm ? my sense of humor ? ’ there’s a teasing grin curving onto her lips while she pulls sadira closer, as if she couldn’t get any closer enough. just the feeling of having her arms wrapped around her love made feel at ease…as if she was at home. there’s a warm, tingly, feeling erupting in the pit of her stomach now and she knows that despite every wrong thing that’s transpired between, she still loves her. hell, she’s still in love with her. so, without even thinking twice, she tilts sadira’s head up to meet her and presses a soft, tender kiss on her lips.

it doesn’t surprise her that the minute she lets go of ari, she’s right back to her. “ you know what you’re doing, ” the blonde scoffs, gaze averted downwards to the arms now wrapping themselves around her torso. dee feels her face heat up, something that came as a side effect of hanging around ari. “ hm ?? ” for a moment, dee’s mind is placed in a fantasy world unlike the one they are currently in, too engrossed in the attention given to her. “ –oh, i’m reading ‘ the lonely hearts hotel ’. it came out a month or two ago. it’s a pretty interesting read. ” her hands find ari’s, clasping at them as the girl’s face suddenly came so close to her own.

ari feigns being hurt for a moment but ultimately ends up bursting out into a fit of laughter. ‘ ok, ok ! you caught me, sue me. ’ ari intertwines the fingers together as she absentmindedly toys with dee’s fingers, ‘ you know what i love about you ? you’re always reading and learning new things. most people would think you’re just too stuck in your books all the time but…i love that about you. well granted, i love…your everything ? ’ for some reason, she’s really nervous; maybe it’s the fact that she has so much to prove and she’s really watching her every word and action so she doesn’t screw her chance. inhale, exhale, she mentally tells herself.  using her thumb, she tilts her chin upward to her as she leans more forward now, lips inches away from hers, as she asks politely, ‘ can i…kiss you ? ’ fingers softly and gently caress her chin as she licks her lips while her pupils dilate.

she leans back on her hands with a huff, reaching up only to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear. “ thanks, ” the girl grins softly as he takes a seat beside her and proceeds to tell her about what he wants to do. “ sounds like a plan. where are we gonna go ?? ” anita asks, before perking up at the word ‘ extravagant ’. she crosses her legs, glaring at him playfully as he kisses her forehead. “ you can’t just tell me about something and not go in depth about it. that’s not fair, ” the young girl pouts before standing up to straighten her dress out.

kase giggles as he playfully taps his finger on her nose. ‘ ah, that’s also a surprise, too. just know you can buy WHATEVER you like. after all, you are my princess. ’ once she stands up to straighten her dress and protrudes her lips, he sighs. he immediately rubs the back of her arms as he places his chin atop her shoulder, ‘ i know it’s not fair but you got to be patient, my darling. now, ’ he says, lips ghosting over her ear rather sensually, ‘ where’s that smile i love ? hm ? ’

AS SOON AS  ari took her in her arms, sadira instantly wrapped her arms so tightly around the other’s neck. this was a start, at least, to change. this was a willingness from ari that she so hoped and pleaded the girl would have. a willingness to deal with sadira for a little bit longer at least. sadira was so overwhelmed with joy that she couldn’t help but squeeze the other as it felt like she died in her arms. she started tearing up, hearing the girl whisper in her ear. ari deserved someone so much better than sadira, and sadira knew that. sadira sniffled a little, trying to sniffle any tears that might try to fall. she decided not to speak, hoping just a nod against the other’s shoulder would suffice. she could barely comprehend her thoughts muchless words she wanted to say.  

ari wraps her arms around sadira’s middle as she pulls her in tighter. she’s not going to lie; she’s missed this. she’s missed her scent, she’s missed the feeling of her being so close to her. she presses a soft kiss on sadira’s forehead and carefully started to caress her face with the ends of her thumbs. ‘ don’t cry, ’ she chuckles, she can ALMOST feel herself getting emotional too but she stops herself from showing any type of feelings. ‘ you know how i get when i see you cry. ’ she takes a hold of her hand and leads her into her apartment. she stays away for a moment to bring back her own hoodie and a blanket. ‘ i’m sure you’re really cold so…’ she awkwardly gestures for her to take the items as she sits down on the couch, patting the open spot next to her. ‘ come, sit with me. ’

they’re toying with her. she doesn’t like it, not one bit; the conversation was really supposed to end there but spencer is beyond BORED and looking for something to do.  she’ll silently thank the stranger ( and even the big man upstairs ) for providing a quick fix. ❛  oh! wow, you shouldn’t have…  ❜ it almost takes everything in her to NOTroll her eyes but then ― inhale, exhale. the familiar smoke whirls around in her lungs; muttering under her breath, admist a cloud of smog, she replies with: ❛  if you were havin’ a night like mine, you’d need a fuckin’ cig too. a whole pack, really. and a few bottles of VODKA, which sounds amazing right now. ❜

OK, now she's just pushing it. she didn’t really have to offer her last ciggy or anything; she could have just blatantly ignored her. but here ari is, being a nice human being for once in her cold-hearted life. it takes almost everything in her body not to roll her eyes and scoff at the other. so, she simply takes another drag of her cigarette and blows smoke rings into the cool, night, air. ‘ hm, ’ she starts, as she carefully ponders over her choice of words. ‘ do you have any money on ya ? maybe YOU could go get some vodka. i’d love to help really, but i’m dry, you see. ’ ari pats her pocket and forces to smile with her teeth, hoping to feign a plausible lie.  there’s no way she’s going to the liquor store and buy a stranger not one, but BOTTLES of vodka. no.

their teasing happened every day, just like clockwork. and with each day it got harder and harder to deal with. evella could feel tears threatening to spill down her cheeks as she kept her head in her locker. hearing easy evellanever failed to make her stomach turn and the joy it seemed to bring others made her feel even worse. just a couple more seconds until the bell rings and they’ll leave you alone. however, their teasing is cut short by one of the boys. although his effort was appreciated, it did little in the way of making her feel better seeing as his girlfriend was probably one of her main tormenters. there’s a sigh of relief once they all leave her alone. there’s a moment of pause before evella slowly closed her locker. she let her hand linger over the metal still sensing the presence of another. she hoped he would leave with the rest of them. when he doesn’t, she finally turns around. a soft sniffle escaping her whilst her free hand swipes away her tears. she’ll give him a slight nod before speaking up,   ◜ t-thanks.  ◞  for nothing. she adds silently before running off to class.

when she says thanks, he spins around almost immediately. his lips curve into a small smile as he parts his lips to say something but it’s too late, she’s already walking down the hall to her own class. he pretends as if he’s walking to his own class too, but after the hallways are completely and utterly empty, he pulls out a note from his leather letterman jacket pocket, walks to her locker and stuffs the note inside. he allows his fingers to linger on the metal for a bit before he smiles and chuckles to himself, ‘ i hope it makes you feel better. i’m sorry i couldn’t do more.’ he KNOWS he’s supposed to do more than just lazily stop their taunts, he’s supposed to STAND up for her. but he can’t. let’s face it — he’s a coward. it’s as if his popularity and reputation mean much more to him than being a decent human being and standing up for what’s right. he removes his fingers from the locker, makes certain no one’s in the hallway again before running to his class. he’s hoping that his note of encouragement will uplift her thoughts. she needs some sort of reassurance, he thinks.

she couldn’t wait for the week to be over and it was only tuesday. she couldn’t wait for high school to be over but unfortunately, she’s still had a few years left. with her father’s job in the air force, their family was forced to move around which made evella the new girl     always. and for once, she thought this new school would be better. in her first few weeks, the cheerleaders let her have lunch with then and she even got invited to a party. however, when she made a scene after one of their jock boyfriends got handsy with her at said party, her fragile reputation plumeted. they called her a slut, easy, liar, desperate, ‘ morning, easy evella. ‘ the cheerleaders taunted as they crowded her locker their boyfriends not too far behind, ‘ are you still throwing yourself at people’s boyfriends? or lying for attention. ‘ evella just kept her head down, heat rising in her cheeks as she tried to ignore their words and get through her morning.

blue watches them taunt evella without uttering a word, of course. he only emits a soft chuckle when he hears the words, “easy evella” come out of one of the cheerleader’s mouths. he’s not laughing at HER, he’s laughing at how stupid and uncreative they were with their choice of taunts. it gets quite old quickly and he’s had enough of their incessant teasing. so, he clears his throat and steps forward and says quite casually; it seems indifferent almost, ‘ all right guys, i think she’s had enough. time to get to class, yeah ? or are all of you DESPERATE to flunk too ? ’ they immediately hush their mouths and leave evella alone, walking to their own lockers respectively. blue’s already got his books so he hangs around for a bit. he doesn’t say anything to evella; he just nods his head as he silently says in his mind, ‘ i’m really sorry about them. ’ his eyes bear an empathetic expression as he awkwardly shifts on his feet. he’s about to open his mouth to finally SAY something but the bell soon rings. he frowns and turns on the soles of his sneakers to walk to his class.

 he slams his locker shut and turns the knob a couple of times. it’s a very calm Tuesday morning before homeroom starts. he stuffs his hands in the pockets of his leather leatherman jacket while sauntering down the hallway while being greeted with a bunch of huge smiles and handshakes from his classmates and others. he’s quite popular; he’s captain of the soccer team, parties with the most popular kids in school and is maybe involved with the most popular cheerleader at school. when he reaches his group of friends across the hallway, he’s greeted with huge smiles and such and he returns the gesture but it’s soon faltered when he sees they’re back at their usual morning habits. they’re teasing and making fun of their other classmate — evella, was it? he’s terrible with names — and he can’t help but feel embarrassed for even standing here, looking as if he’s apart of this too. he doesn’t utter a word, though, he can’t let his reputation be ruined. so, instead, he averts his gaze somewhere else.

“ knock knock, ” anita’s voice is soft, a semi-permanent smirk etched into her features as she stands from the door frame she’s been leaning on. she’s been hanging around kase for almost a month now, and though she’ll never admit it aloud, she’s never felt happier. perhaps it had something to do with him spoiling her at every chance he got, or maybe how she knows he’s wrapped around her finger. the girl takes a few steps further into his room, a hand reaching up to brush against his back before she brushes past him, sitting on his bed. “ sorry i’m late, i sort of slept in. ” she admits lightly.

‘ hm. it’s not a problem. don’t worry ‘bout it, ’ he says, reassuringly. it’s been a month since they’ve been hanging and quite frankly, kase is ecstatic. yes, he’s being spoiling her rotten, but it’s only because he’s so enamored with her. some might call him a lovesick fool but he just sees it as being nice, ‘ you look nice, ’ he sits down on his bed with her as a soft chuckle emits from his lips, ‘ so…i was thinking we’d go out to lunch then i’d take you shopping or something. nothing too BIG. ’ he gets up from his bed, only to pick his shirt and button it up and tucking it up nicely. ‘ next week, however, it’ll be extravagant. ’ he leans down to kiss her forehead affectionately, ‘ don’t try and get it out of me though. ’
