“I swear by the moon I am most melancholy soft, and most outrageous sentimental.”
— Edna St. Vincent Millay, from “The Lamp and the Bell,” published c. 1921 (via violentwavesofemotion)
characters who refuse to heal. characters who change but only for the worse. characters who are trapped by their grief and rage. characters who unravel throughout the narrative. i am putting them in my pocket for later
personally i like the idea of coming back to tumblr/writeblr just to hang out, but the tumblr UI looks overwhelming lately
anyway should i revive this blog or just start a new one
THE BLUEST HOUR PRESENTS: BEACH WEEK 2022
The Bluest Hour would like to present its first writeblr-related event! For this week I encourage you to use the following beach-related prompts to create content for your wips (gifs, edits, writing and art) that are based on the words for each day. Make sure to use the tag #thebluesthourbeachweek for me to be able to find your posts.
THE PROMPTS ARE AS FOLLOWS:
DAY ONE (Monday, 18th July) — Ice Cream
DAY TWO (Tuesday, 19th July) — Bathing Suit
DAY THREE (Wednesday, 20th July) — Seashore
DAY FOUR (Thursday, 21st July) — Swimming
DAY FIVE (Friday, 22nd July) — Sunshine
DAY SIX (Saturday, 23rd July) — Beach Ball
DAY SEVEN (Sunday, 24th July) — Sandcastle
HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
The main aim of the event is to create beach-themed content for your wips. Whether that be literally writing about your ocs taking a visit to the beach, writing headcanons on their swimwear or favourite type of sundae, making beach-related gifsets or edits related to your ocs or wips... the floor is yours. You are free to interpret these prompts however you desire.
This event will be open to both members and non-members.
Tag this blog @thebluesthourcommunity so that I can find and reblog your creations!
You do not have to participate for every prompt and late entries may still be reblogged.
Jane Austen really said ‘I respect the “I can fix him” movement but that’s just not me. He’ll fix himself if knows what’s good for him’ and that’s why her works are still calling the shots today.
Meanwhile Emily Brönte just said “We can make each other worse.”
Mary Shelley said, “I can make him
Yes yes yes I do like you.

Don’t like that trope where women are forced into arranged marriages against their will for their family’s political advantage, it just reinforces the frankly sexist idea of women as overemotional and obsessed with romance to the point of stupidity, and neglects the reality of all the women throughout history who would gladly marry for power, riches and political advantage as long as the spouse in question wasn’t entirely awful, because ambition is not an inherently gendered trait, you gotta have a roof over your head, and that earl title suits your brother
Something about ambition being a virtue in men and a flaw in women, and how that kind of thinking also influences people’s perception of women in politics and business today
Maybe I’m just very ace, but I feel like if you’re going to sleep with someone, you might as well get an aristocratic title and a few estates out of it
If you’re a woman living in a society and belonging to a social class where getting married is the closest you’ll ever get to having a job, why wouldn’t you marry for social, political and financial advantage? Sure, your husband has a weak chin and the annoying habit of mainly talking about his hunting dogs, but the estates are gorgeous, the horses are fine, the servants are numerous, you’re dining with the Prime Minister and his wife, and you just used your connections to secure a viscount for your younger sister
When the FUCK will my relatives get off their asses and find ME a viscount.

i just adore the concept of a romance with a ghost. falling in love with a person who’s barely a person at all. the inherent tragedy of it. something both impermanent and immortal. u know it’s sure to be a doomed dalliance, but you love this dead thing anyway
like… falling in love with someone forever unchanging but who can slip from your grasp at any time (literally and figuratively). a memory manifested. what is it like to kiss someone who isn’t really there?
