Idk who needs to hear this, but if your kid turns 18 and you're STILL treating them like you did when they were a minor (taking away screens, witholding access to friends/community, changing the wifi/internet settings on their devices, removing their bedroom door/not letting them close it, etc.) (which is still absolute bastard shit behavior even when they're a minor), newsflash, your kid won't like you. And the MINUTE they get the chance, whether it's getting a partner or friend and moving into a place together or working their ass off to get a place, or taking out that loan so they can live in the dorms, they will leave you. And 99% of the time, they will cut contact. And they still would have done that if you only did it to them when they were a minor, but the fact that you're still doing it when they're 18? You're an asshole. A fucking absolute asshole that has lost ANY chance you might have had at being in that child's life.
I hope you're proud of yourself. Did you discipline them enough yet?

Replacing physical buttons and controls with touchscreens also means removing accessibility features. Physical buttons can be textured or have Braille and can be located by touch and don't need to be pressed with a bare finger. Touchscreens usually require precise taps and hand-eye coordination for the same task.
Many point-of-sale machines now are essentially just a smartphone with a card reader attached and the interface. The control layout can change at a moment's notice and there are no physical boundaries between buttons. With a keypad-style machine, the buttons are always in the same place and can be located by touch, especially since the middle button has a raised ridge on it.
Buttons can also be located by touch without activating them, which enables a "locate then press" style of interaction which is not possible on touchscreens, where even light touches will register as presses and the buttons must be located visually rather than by touch.
When elevator or door controls are replaced by touch screens, will existing accessibility features be preserved, or will some people no longer be able to use those controls?

one of my biggest problems with "i transmigrated into medieval fantasy and started the industrial revolution" stories is that they always act like it's possible for one guy to do that just by Knowing Things Intelligently With Their Big Brain, meanwhile i'm always screaming about "the material conditions!!!!" internally. knowing things intelligently won't help you if you don't have the necessary infrastructure, or access to enough raw materials.
I know that when a recipe says like “easy one-pan quesadilla” or whatever and then tells you to put the filling in a bowl and wash your hot pan before using it again that’s because the target audience is people who only have one pan but I have so many pans for so many different purposes and whenever I see such a direction I get irrationally angry. You’re lying to me. This is a two-pan recipe with a burnt finger intermission
