Yo Yo Yo! My name's Luna Cyprus! (Yes, it's legit my last name, I didn't have to change it to learn to be a pokemon professor) She/Her 20 years old.

I was part of team Skull (Kinda still am, since the team still hangs out and talks without getting into our usual mischief!) My community service put me in a pokemon center, and from there I decided to pursue a degree and become a Professor!

I have a small team of Pokemon that I'm not looking to increase. (I had a *bad* incident that made me drop out of the island challenge as a kid...)

Nursey- An Audino, and my service pokemon. She's not native to Alola, but all the right procedures were followed and she's very well trained to assist me.

Onion- My little Sobble buddy. He's almost a year old, I've hatched him from an egg and I'm raising him for my course work.

Buck- My Rattata! Leftover from my team skull days.

Miss Zappy- The rotom in my phone. Also occasionally my wheelchair, which doesn't always end well...

Truly there is no better way to end my day then watching a Drifblim try to take a kid and while I went to grab rocks, everyone else just pulled out their phones to film the “cute interaction.”

like no motherfuckers!? It’s not a Drifloon!! That thing will actually lift your child up and take her away?

So yeah I got people angry at me and a ranger got called and my night was pretty much ruined. But the kid is okay and watching the ranger lecture the parents was fun.

but damn was I tired when I finally got home.

I was telling this story to my coworkers and they told me I should elaborate.

I did have to pay a fine for throwing rocks at the pokemon like that. It was a small fine due to the obvious emergency situation

But to be fair, I only had Nursey with me and she pretty much just knows normal type moves so… yeah.

Yeah this stuff drives me crazy. Most of the people I interact with here in Alola seem to understand, probably thanks to Acerola and the Aether Founation trying to be on top of this nonsense.

But dumb teenagers exist everywhere and so do tourists. I’ve heard of an idiot who peeked under a Mimikyu’s rag. Don’t do that!

Not everyone is built like Professor Kukui. In fact we should probably strive to *not* be like him. Pokemon are wild animals. I have first hand experience with this knowledge.

My Sobble, Onion, touched an ice cube and cried when he discovered it was cold. My rotom got into my chair and almost drove me in the lake. I was saved, all parties were unharmed

I've always had a burning question for a while now, but um

Would a disabled Pokémon be unable to learn certain moves, even ones that would normally be within its moveset??

Because I keep seeing the neighbors kid trying to teach what I assume to be their Vaporeon the moge Hyper Voice via TM

But it just...doesnt work??? Help, I want to help the kid but I don't know how

So short answer: nah, it ain’t happening.

Long Answer: some pokemon straight up can’t learn certain moves due to a disability or birth defect. And some pokemon *shouldnt* learn moves even if they’re able too if they’re disabled.

that’s why it’s important to loop in the local pokemon centers and your vets for any questions.

I don’t wanna armchair diagnose a ‘mon I ain’t even seeing, so if the kids moms and pops don’t seem concerned, it should be fine.

If the kid seems like they’re trying to hide this from the parentals, then yeah, check to see if they’re in the loop. Better safe than sorry for a pokemon and kid’s safety
