Since it's Indie Animation Day...

I figured I'd repost that list of other animation creators on YouTube that I shared last week, separate from it's original, weird context. I've also included several more entries based on suggestions in the comments. Thanks for the feedback! General Content Warning: Some of the below is not for kids, or contains violence or other subject matter some viewers might find distressing. Please use your adult discretion. Also, this is not a list of moral endorsements. I know some of these creators personally, but many of them I do not. While I have tried to make sure I'm not listing anyone who is a criminal or otherwise objectively harmful person, I don't have encyclopedic knowledge of every little internet drama that has gone down (and chances are I'm not super interested in hearing about it all because it's really difficult to tell fact from fiction from hyperbole around here).

I can't do this anymore. I just can't. I'm so done with all of this. All the stress, all the distrust, all the anxiety, and crippling depression! I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE! I just want my account back! I've spent over a thousand dollars to try and get it back, when all I could have done is just talk to Discord Support again until they managed to get my account back! But I didn't! I was so desperate to get my account back! To get my servers, my friends, MY LIFE BACK! I was blind, and stupid! SO STUPID! I'm so broke right now! I wanted to take commissions to try and gain some money back from this, but NO ONE EVEN CARES! No one cares what I have to offer to this world! NO ONE DOES! I'm going to die alone, and now I'm going to die penniless... The only thing I have control over now is that I don't have to wait for my death. That's the only thing I have control over now. Isn't it sad? I'm 24 years old, and already I've lost all hope in the world.

What has been your favorite part of Lackadaisy? (I must say I ADORE the animation with the visible sketch lines. It gives such a welcoming homemade feel to the show!)

I think my favorite part was getting that dang pencil to finally look right. Idk if most people here know this, but I built from scratch the brush used to line the characters as well as the early pipeline for how the look of the characters would be handled in cleanup.

My goal was to create a line texture for Toon Boom that looked like the Xerox Era of Disney animation. This was where the animators would take their rough pencil drawings and use basically an old school printer to copy and darken those lines so they looked like finalized cleaned lineart. This was done to cut costs so they wouldn't have to draw AND line every single frame because Disney wasn't doing so well financially back then (crazy to imagine now I know), but the end result was a really unique aesthetic!

Obviously we went a touch more clean than these. I just wanted to show some really nice and crunchy examples. Even so, funnily some people thought that was a mistake instead of a throwback to a long gone era of animation haha I don't blame them tho. People are much too used to hyper clean/crisp lines and we wanted to bring that dirt, grime, and TEXTURE back in for a nostalgic vibe. I'm still proud of how these early tests came out and the further refining the rest of the team did to get that final look is incredible.

I don't think 2024 is going to be my year.

In less than 2 weeks, I've had my Discord account hacked, and now probably half of, if not all my friends are gone, along with all the servers I was on. I got Catfished by a piece of shit scammer posing as a model I'm following, only to shake me down, and steal $115 dollars from me. I ended up getting sick of waiting for Discord Support to get their thumbs out of their ass and actually fix my problem, I inadvertently hired a lawful hacker to come in, and get my account back. In the process I blew another $100+ dollars in Bitcoin on them to help fix it. And on top of that, I strained my back at work because I actually wanted to be productive! If this is gonna be the rest of my year, where I get beat down for no reason then what the hell is even the point of continuing on?! Why must God torment me in this way? What did I do to deserve all this?! Well it doesn't matter now. One of these days I'll snap, and end up taking my own life, then I'll be free of this unyielding torment. I can't keep living like this. Forever beat down, and made to feel miserable, and unloved. I'm ready to die. Please just let me die.

and was like “hey, wouldn’t it be nice to get them for people to see?” so i did :D

they are really poor quality cus the game window was really small and i tried everything to get it in higher resolution but nothing worked oof
