resolution (aspiration?) for this year: allow myself to draw more OC art………. even just a little don’t get me wrong i draw fan art because i genuinely enjoy it (rather than feeling forced to)! but also i always chicken out of letting myself draw original things under the assumption that nobody’s gonna like it when:
1. not necessarily true at all
2. OCs live rent free in my brain 24/7 i gotta exorcise those demons somehow
3. truly who give a shit! indulgence is the best part of it. creation is the spice of life baybee!!!
addition: 4. the sort of collective attitudes social media (less so tumblr, moreso twitter and others) has about art, so-called “content”, and what constitutes being worthy of attention/”consumption” are not only arbitrary and hypocritical as fuck but also the structure of algorithms and what gets boosted aren’t indicative of worth or even individual interest and relying solely on posting my fanart (while keeping my original work private) because it’s the only thing that tends to garner any attention is unhealthy and demoralizing!! i make art because i want to. even if it’s fan art of something incredibly popular that on the surface looks like a beg for clout, at the end of the day it’s genuinely just me being proud of something and wanting to share it. being held back just because the occasional dumbass says that original work isn’t valid and that nobody cares is all the more reason to continue creating and sharing ✍️
