I can't get over Martin's retirement, somebody tell me what to do, I don't want to cry whenever I think about it
Martin Fourcade
5 time olympic champion
7 time winner of the overall world cup
7 time olympic medalist
13 time world champion (11 time individual)
28 world championships medals
83 individual wins
347 world cup starts
the most successful french olympian of all time
one of the greatest biathletes of all time (if not the greatest)
Martin is completely something else for me. I don't remember the first time I saw him, but I know I was his fan ever since. There was something about him I just couldn't ignore. Maybe it was the way he did biathlon, he made it look so simple. Maybe it was the smile he had after every great competition. Maybe it was something completely different. I don't know. But he had me.
The list above tells you what an incredible career he's had. But he's (or rather he was) not just an exceptional athlete, he is so much more than that. He is an incredible human being and the best role model I could have ever chosen.
It breaks my heart that I will never see you again, competing in biathlon competition. I'm also very sorry for the fact that there were no fans today to give you the applause that you deserve. I wish you only the best for the future. Thank you for everything you've done for biathlon and most of all thank you for being such a great role model to many people, including me. Your daughters are lucky to have such a dad.
Au revoir champion et bonne chance!💙
I'm so proud of Martin you can't imagine. First win - Kontiolahti pursuit 2010. Last win - Kontiolahti pursuit 2020. So poetic.
He cannot end when there are no fans!!!! He just can't Martin wtf are you doing?????
I'm crying so hard right now oh my god how can I get to finland I need to say goodbye to my baby
Any idea what happened to Quentin and Martin? They had 2nd and 3rd running times in sprint and today the just couldn't keep up with the fastest? Bad skies maybe?
What the hell Johannes
ANTHOLZ 2020 my summary
soo happy for the French men's team
Tarjei deserved a medal (ily Emilien but you could have let Tarjei have this very last one)
happy for Martin, it was great world champs for him, but it's little bittersweet now after the mass start :((
ngl I'm kinda happy Johannes wasn't this dominant for the whole wch, cause the races would be really boring (but he really deserved this gold)
Marte is a queen
Doro becoming a world champion in front of a home crowd was absolutely amazing
glad Hanna got a medal
also Erik Lesser got two medals???? Yes please
Already cannot wait for the rest of the season 🙌🏻
Team's reaction after Quentin Fillon Maillet successfully hit all five targets in the last standing shooting, meaning members of team France are men's relay world champions after 19 years
THIS IS SO ADORABLE, YOU CAN JUST TELL HOW HAPPY THEY ARE (and look at Martin, he looks like he's just won a wch title, hehe)
Martin Fourcade crying in an interview after men's relay is something so heartwarming like he was sooo happy he was crying that's just so cute I wanna hug him
Martin Fourcade poses with his gold medal after winning men’s 20 km individual race at the IBU Biathlon World Championships in Antholz-Anterselva on February 19, 2020.
I love how many people don't even like Martin but during the pursuit they were cheering for him because, let's be honest, anyone is better than Loginov
Martin Fourcade appreciation post
because why the hell not he's the most amazing person❤
These two previous weeks have been absolutely amazing for Martin (and the whole french team of course). He's shown that he still knows how to win a race, how to beat everyone. He's shown he can still be the champion we've known for so many years. Now, that Johannes returns for world cup, I hope Martin will not get back to where he was before Johannes left. I hope he knows he can be an equal rival to Johannes and doesn't have to fall apart almost every time Johannes races against him.
So Martin, please just stay the way you were in Oberhof and Ruhpolding. Don't lose your smile, don't lose your mental strength. You've got great shooting shape, you've got good skiing shape and you've gained your confidence back. Don't let Johannes decide how your races will go. You are the only one that can do that. I wish you the best of luck champ, my fingers are crossed for you.
Perfect Ruhpolding for Martin: 40/40 clean shots, hat-trick & 4th individual victory in a row
I'm so proud of them and I'm not even french lol
