This is an example of something known as the Meissner Effect.
The Meissner effect is the expulsion of a magnetic field from a superconductor during its transition to the superconducting state.
- Wikipedia
In order words, when cooled to a certain critical temperature, a superconductor changes the magnetic field around it. Therefore, in a space like that shown in the video, a superconductor is able to effectively decrease the interior magnetic field of the external magnetic field and increase the exterior magnetic field. Thus, the object is able to essentially be held in space.
In terms of possible future applications, there are numerous. Of course, at this time, hoverboards would be the most trivial. However, it is still very expensive and not practical to use the effect in society, but with the continuous development of new technologies and new discoveries, the time may be sooner than one might expect.

AP World History
AP World History is difficult.
Children can be difficult.
Adolf Hitler was once a child.
The Holocaust was run under Adolf Hitler.
Many people were killed during the Holocaust.
Thus, AP World History kills many people.

Finals and Studying Tactics
Finals are but hours away. During these hours, studying become a necessity, drowning one in the world of text. However, our ability to study can be represented in many different ways. My method of study tends to lean towards reading through my notes again and taking notes, starting from my most difficult classes. Although this method may be sufficient for the majority of my classes, Mathematics is a very well known exception. While studying for my Mathematics classes, practice is the essential key. Personally, I solve some problems at the end of each section and look for anything I do not understand. Then, reading that section, I refresh my knowledge and solve those problems once more. As you may already know, this is not the only way to study efficiently both time-wisely and content-wisely. Other ways of studying can be found here: http://www.cod.edu/people/faculty/fancher/study.htm
A Short Reflection Back
Over the course of a couple of days, I have started to see academics and education in a very new way. As a freshman in high school, I began learning the many 'tools of the trade' of learning, spending countless hours studying texts and attaining fresh, applicable knowledge for the real world. Now, as the year comes to an end, I would like to spend some time writing about my new perception.
The limits to my curiosity were immeasurably heightened over the past few days. A new interest in the life sciences has sprung up inside of me after visiting the Intel Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), beholding the magnificent talents that these students comprise. I, too, would like to undertake such a task, adding yet another objective for me to accomplish within the short time that is my high school years.
