💀
The pain was too much to bear and he was losing blood fast, those things coupled together made his head spin. His screams died down, and there was nothing more he would've liked to do than carry on, because it would've at least made him felt like he was still alive and fighting, trying to hold on to the last string of hope that maybe the noise would attract any stray students lingering around the halls and he wouldn't have to die like this.
The footsteps were soft, quiet, but Isaac felt the presence behind him and closed his eyes, letting his head fall against Will’s shoulder, seconds before the sharp knife plunged deep into his back and carved out a hole, insides emptying on the outside.
It was over. And also funny, because in those last moments he recalled how people constantly said that just before you die, your whole life flashes before your eyes. The good times, the bad, and he wished he could tell somebody that it was true. In those last few seconds, he looked back on his relationship with his parents and how much he wanted to say sorry, apologise that he wasn't perfect and reassure them that his death wouldn't make a difference to their lives, he could no longer mess things up for them.
He wished he could apologise to the friends he had betrayed, the lovers he had forgotten and the people he had hurt in NOLA.
Will, for not doing more and for being unable to help him fight this; for letting him in because maybe, just maybe, if he had blown him off, they wouldn't have to die together.
He thought back to the incident and the way the guy had looked when his friends finally stepped away from the lifeless body and fresh tears rolled down his face, his head filled with regret that he didn't do anything to stop them, he ran away, he was a coward.
He had fucked up his life before he was even started and in the short space of time that it took for his body to shut down, a single thought, a realisation, crossed his mind.
He deserved it.
