From Wonderful Tonight: George Harrison, Eric Clapton, and Me.
Happy 70th birthday to former model, author and photographer Pattie Boyd. Beatles fans will remember Boyd as the wife of Beatles guitarist George Harrison, whom she married in 1966 before ultimately divorcing in 1977. During the marriage, Boyd met guitar virtuoso Eric Clapton, who wrote the famous rock classic “Layla” after falling in love with her. Nine years later, and three years after her divorce from Harrison, Eric Clapton and Boyd were married, before eventually separating in 1988.
Pattie Boyd’s lifestyle of acting as a muse to some of rock history’s biggest names gave her a unique insight into the private lives of an otherwise guarded and clandestine group of people. Her hobby of carrying around a camera and taking snapshots wherever she went, combined with the her close relationship to her subjects, led to an archive of candid shots of Rock and Roll legends like Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, The Beatles, Jeff Beck, Keith Moon, amongst others. Enclosed above is a self portrait that Boyd took of herself, which served as the cover for her Autobiography “Wonderful Today”. Check out more of her work at her website linked below, or read about what she has to say in the linked interview from RUSSH magazine. [ Pattie Boyd ] [ RUSSH Magazine ]
