Noah was still getting used to the heat. Despite his traveling to Italy and New York in the past few years, he would always be a Londoner at heart, used to a more temperate climate. It made him seek out water whenever he could, something that had been lacking in New York but fortunately was plentiful in California and he was currently heading to the hotel pool, a bottle of water and towel in hand. He was pleasantly surprised to find that it wasn’t filled with people but he supposed that was one of the things you paid for at this hotel, no screaming children running around and families occupying every lounge chair so you couldn’t get one for yourself. There was only one other person currently in the water and no one around the pool area so Noah picked a random chair to displace his towel and water before going to dive into the pool.
He faltered for a moment as he took in the woman floating on her back, looking peaceful and - was she humming to herself? She was stunning and Noah took the opportunity to watch her, as she had her own eyes closed, lowering himself into the cool water with a sigh as it washed over his overheated skin. Noticing the smile on her lips, he wondered if he had been discovered in checking her out so blatantly but her eyes were still closed. “Not at all,” he answered to her question of whether she was in his way. On the contrary, he’d much prefer that she stayed exactly as she was - or perhaps floated a bit closer to him. “Why would it bother me?” he asked curiously. “I’d say that’s the last thing it does. Plus there’s plenty of room for both of us here. I expected way more people. It was a nice surprise to find only you.”
isabel was pleasantly surprised with the response she received from the stranger – so much so that she stayed how she was, a pleasant smile now on her lips. she wondered if she stayed like that whether he’d come close her, let her outstretched arm graze his skin. but that kind of thing only happened in the movies, and she knew better than to expect it.
she opened her eyes finally and looked sideways at the man in the pool. he looked almost as she’d expected him too – larger, perhaps, but considering than he was clearly larger than most men, could she be blamed? “is it just us?” she asked, giving him a half smile. “that’s good. we can get to know each other.” it was somewhere between genuine and flirtatious – after all, that’s kind of why she was here, right? sex, sure – but sex and human connection?
she curled her legs and put her feet back on the bottom of the pool so she could stand. the depth came to her waist, and she danced her hands across the surface of the water. “i’m isabel,” she said, wading towards him.
