she wets her lip, considering her options and just how much she can trust the younger. “i just… misplaced my pet, so i’m trying to find it…” she coughs. “you didn’t happen to see it, did you? it’s uh…” serin pauses, thinking for a moment before braving a step closer to gesture with her hands. it is after all, technically an undocumented creature she brought onto campus. “about this big, kind of like a sapphire blue, has wings on top of its head, spins while it flies…” 

has a painful bite with interesting side effects. yeah, he didn’t need to know about that.

if there’s anything to be known about iseul, it’s that he’s a stickler for rules. it’s in his nature to be obedient. although, there have been several cases where he’s been willing to bend them. those occasions usually ( if not always ) involve jiyi, and they revolved around three topics: sneaking out with her friends ( she had asked for the prefects’ routine so that they could time it perfectly ), sneaking him out of the house so that they could go crash at their older brother’s apartment, and basically anything she asked him to do. he’s always been a good little brother.

and now, he’s pretty sure serin is going to make him break a couple of rules for her, too.

iseul hums absentmindedly, watching as the older girl darts her eyes around and barely catches the end of his question. his eyes narrow in suspicion, but he replies pleasantly nevertheless, “i just finished. i was heading back to the common room so i could do some homework.”

“your pet…” iseul repeats slowly, eyebrows knitting in confusion before he realizes exactly what pet she’s talking about. he had caught a glimpse of her billywig when she was in the process of sneaking it into her room, and she had sworn him to utter secrecy to never breathe a word about the ( possibly ) illegal insect she was harboring. it’s how they started talking in the first place, serin cajoling him into joining the magical creatures club because he had been fascinated by the ones she had come across while in australia. including the sapphire insect they were currently talking about. the one that would be nearly impossible to track down. “sorry noona, i don’t think i’ve seen it anywhere.” 

he frowns a bit, raising a hand to rub at the back of his neck in worry. subconsciously, his voice drops to a whisper ( as if his normal speaking voice wasn’t quiet already ), and he shuffles closer to serin. “um… isn’t it dangerous for it- your pet- to be out in the world? if it’s not a native species, won’t it mess up the ecosystem?”

won iseul is not a crybaby.

sure, he may have cried when changmin and jiyi would run off and play without him, saying that he was far too little to join them. and sure, he may have cried when his parents wouldn’t let him keep the niffler he had found on his way home from school, and he had to be consoled for hours on end. 

however, he refuses to cry at this.

he trips on the way to history of magic, scrolls of parchment flying everywhere before scattering on the floor. or, a more accurate way to put it, is that someone sticks out their foot to make him fall. usually he would shake it off and consider it an accident ( his gangly limbs make it too easy after all ), but a sense of dread fills his stomach when he hears familiar snickers echo in the otherwise empty hall. 

it’s only been a month into school, and iseul thought that things would be different. that high school would be nothing like middle school where he would get picked on for the littlest things such as for being a goody two shoes, for saying sorry too much, even for breathing. quickly, though, he's come to realize that his life is just continuing to follow the same exact trajectory, and that nothing he could do would ever make it change its course.

his cheeks flush hotly with shame, and he can feel the telltale prick of tears threatening to spill over. he finds himself blinking rapidly to make them go away, head ducked down and bangs obscuring his eyes as he begins to pick up his belongings. 

iseul reaches to grab his homework, but a shoe stops him by stomping down onto his essay. he shrinks back, the rest of his books and things held protectively against his chest. he bites the inside of his cheek, voice caught in his throat and words already cracking.

“...l-look guys, i really don’t w-want any trouble...”

as a prefect, patrolling the school to enforce curfew was just one of the few jobs that were given to them, and iseul took his role very seriously. 

well, as serious as one could be when the one in question had yet to actually memorize the layout of yosul and instead frequently found themselves stuck on a moving staircase when trying to get from point a to point b. by now, it was just part of his routine. after reorienting himself, iseul is definitely more than a little late getting back to the original area he was supposed to be in, but thankfully there seems to be no one roaming the halls tonight.

he’s sort of relieved about it- not because he hates confrontation or anything ( which is only a tiny bit of a lie anyways )-, but because the sooner that he can finish his duties, the sooner he can actually get started on that transfiguration homework he’s been putting off doing for a while.

but as soon as he rounds the corner he spies a student emerging from the baek ho dorms, and upon closer inspection, recognizes the one and only ryu serin. magical beasts extraordinaire, 7th year, and ( most importantly! ) the coolest girl he knows. iseul finds himself waving to her shyly before he closes the gap between them in a few quick, long strides ( if only so that the older girl could hear him speak without having to strain her ears ).

“ah, noona...!” he greets, polite as always, but with a hint of fondness leaking through his tone. a quizzical look crosses over his features then, and he tilts his head to the side slightly as he takes in serin’s wide, worried eyes coupled with her frazzled nature. his original question of “what are you doing up so late?”  is instead tactfully changed to:

“is everything okay?”

won baby!!! his older sibs are @mmchangmin and @mmjiyi who are definitely a 100 more times cooler than him b/c they have blonde hair but he’s Boring and just kept his hair black 😔👊 he’s extremely sorta insecure abt the fact that both of his sibs are happy extroverts and he’s just... Not. very shy!!! hates talking to strangers even though his parents force him to!!! if u didn’t know him well you would think he’s aloof n mean but rly he’s just a babie who can’t even talk to girls

not the smartest but is v determined to do well in school and tries hard in everything that he does!! the type of person to ask questions after class ( but only b/c he’s scared of appearing dumb in front of his peers!! ) and spends way 2 much time in the library. ( also place #1 where he hides from his bullies lol ) 

he’s involved in some extracurriculars such as: 

prefect :~)  iseul’s a stickler for rules!!! don’t ask him to bend them for u b/c he won’t!! lowkey played himself tho since he just gets picked on more... haha... plz do not tell either of his sibs this :// he’s a dummy that won’t stand up for himself but will for other ppl in need?? otherwise ₕₑ ⱼᵤₛₜ ₜₐₗₖₛ ₗᵢₖₑ ₜₕᵢₛ and suffers silently

quidditch editor for the yosul ilbo! he’s not even that into quidditch but he basically learned all that he knows from jiyi so he gotta be useful with that knowledge somewhere!! catch him @ all the games... doesn’t play since he’s not really competitive but he is a natural at flying ( he learned from the BEST after all !!! )

part of the magical creatures club!! can’t take the class yet so he’s in the next best thing :”) ever since he was little he’s thought about being a magizoologist or even a dragonologist but tbh he’ll probably be forced into the family business once he becomes old enough so it’s just a pipe dream of his. he has a pink pygmy puff that is constantly rolling away from him and getting lost!!

doesn’t have that much house pride tbh?? he doesn’t think he’s v similar to his housemates at all or that he even belongs in baek ho so he’s very :((( about it b/c what if the gat made a mistake?? he’s rly worried since all the wons atm are in ju jak so a v Troubled boy,,, 

anyways classic plots i would Die for:

childhood friends!!! someone who has stuck w/ him thru the yrs not for the ~ won fame ~ but b/c yknow they geniunely like hanging out w iseul... alternatively a best friend PLZ!! he has like two friends and u have the spot closest to his heart

a hyung/noona to dote on him and he’s always like “stop it ur embarrassing me” but the truth is that he’s a baby that needs to be babied

or u used to babysit him and he’s MORTIFIED... pls do not tell anyone about the time he cried ten times watching finding nemo it would ruin his cold reputation

he’s too young to be in love but u have a crush on one of his sibs and u want him to wingman and he’s just like. haha what

ur convinced he’ll be gr8 at quidditch so u keep pestering him abt it... leave him Alone
