The second he saw the redhead press a hand to the girl he turned away, screwing his eyes shut lest he be forced to witness the act that he was going to commit. Murdering a young girl… the sixteen-year-old had committed a lot of cruel acts in his life time but the murder of a youth was simple one thing he could not… would not do, or bare witness to.
As soon as the sound of tearing flesh and cracking bones began to resonate through the hall, the distinct smell of iron filling his nose, the teen gagged. It took every ounce of strength in his body not to vomit on the floor right there, but somehow he managed to perceiver against bodily functions.
When the disgusting sounds of viscera pouring on the floor ceased, he hesitated for a few moments and stared straight forward, dropping his hands to his sides. Catching his bottom lip between his teeth, he wondered if he’d be all right to turn around now— though he doubted he would be able to handle the sight he knew was waiting for him.
But he had a feeling this wouldn’t be the last he’d see of something like this, there was no point ignoring his fears in the vain hope they’d leave him alone. It was for this exact reason he hesitated for but a moment before shifting his feet so he could turn around, back to face Robert and the now-dead girl lying empty on the floor.
Digging his teeth in his lip almost hard enough to draw blood, he tried to ignore the vermilion liquid pooling beneath the suited gentleman and the chunks of her insides littered through it, focusing instead on the main himself. It seemed to work, for now.
"Done?"
Like he really needed to ask that, it was obvious the task was over, but he felt like he needed to hold some sort of conversation lest he lose his determination and give up entirely on the scene, probably running away because he simple couldn’t handle the death of a child. It reminded him too much of his younger days.
'Yes.'
He held a dead, slippery slug in his hand. It was the ADAM slug. In its purest forms, it actually had upsides to it that didn't destroy your body from its very core. With a swift motion he crushed its spine, the bones loudly cracking in his fingers; killing it quickly and without too much trouble. Unlike the act he had undertaken a short while before.
'We have the ADAM. Do you wish to carry it or shall I?'
If he had the 'honour' of doing so, he would not exactly be sure where to put it. In his pockets? That would make the suit dirty and perhaps even damage it, so that was not a solution. He'd understand why Link wouldn't desire to hold an item which had nested itself in the stomach of a young girl. He himself found it.. a disturbing thought.
--But what's done, is done. What's done, will be done.
'If it were up to me, I would suggest you be the one to hold it somewhere. As you are the one to use it. Or well, for now.'
He let an almost nervous chuckle hear, it being brief enough to be mistaken for sarcasm, which he of course did not intend. It could bring up a fight. And if he could, he would rather avoid highly flawed interpretation of silly actions. It would definitely lead to fights, and their combined powers were all they had.
The gloomy mood was one he had anticipated on, but one he did not quite enjoy. He found conversation when a gloomy mood was prominent hard to maintain. More specifically due to the fear of the other not taking note, which was a major factor of failure in science. If you did not take notes, experiments could go wrong, and years of research could become invalid.
Not to mention how embarrassing his attempts to calm one down or make one feel better were. He was not used to having to support anyone in times of mental crisis, as he could not even assist himself in such times. It would be really great if he knew, as it appeared he would need it quite a lot. Especially in this hellhole of a city.
With every minute, he regretted every thought about the fun boat break more and more.

Stepping out of the way to allow the other to work his magic on the computer, the boy folded his arms over his chest and leant against the unused part of the terminal. It had gone rather quiet safe for the sounds of alarms, the occasional footsteps echoing from far away, and the fingers tapping away at the computer beside him.
Speaking of the adult beside him at the computer, he’d just gotten lost in thought when he announced he was complete eyes widening in surprise at how fast he’d completely that task.
"—Damn.”
Those were the only words of minor praise he managed as he jogged his way down the stairs, the dull thud of a sword sheath bashing against his leg echoing in the narrow hall. So close, he could practically feel the cool air on his face already.
He was obviously so excited he completely ignored the over-grown roaches lurking in the hall they’d entered, skipping right past them and heading for the larger door that would obviously hold the exit behind it.
Hesitating just before the door to give Robert time to catch up, he gripped his Katana and unsheathed it, twirling it around in his hand a few times out of nervous habit. Nothing had gone… overly wrong yet, if he was honest he was expecting something to.
Pressing his right shoulder against the door to push it ajar, barely enough for he himself to slip through, he squeezed through the gap sword first, expecting there to be some sort of ambush waiting for them here.
Surprisingly… there was no one. They must have been lucky enough to get here first, which was pretty good. A few steps were taken over to the yellow panel marked ‘Door Control’, the boy eyeing out a lever that surely would grant them exit from this metal prison.
"Don’t forget t’shut the door behind you."
That last utterance was given as small fingers wrapped around the lever, katana lowered till the tip of the blade almost scraped along the floor.
Laying eyes upon the big steel door sent chills down his spine. Whether it be of excitement or fear; the undeniable fact was that they were going away from here. Just like he had dreamt of all these years. Finally he could put a smile on his face. It felt years since the last time he confidently could do so, quickly him shutting the door by fiddling with its panel after Link told him to.
'We're going to be free, buddy.'
As much as he wanted to, the temptation of pulling the lever and opening the door was one he could definitely not resist, but did not have the honour to. Instead, he nervously stared at his gun, waiting for anything to happen. Nothing did. A minute of frightening silence passed. Oddly enough, it ensured them of their survival.
He cautiously made his way to the panel, his steps being the only thing breaking the unnerving silence. It bothered him, but he could not prevent it. This was it. The big moment. He slowly breathed in, letting out a relieved sigh, turning to Link. It felt.. almost unbelievable that this was happening. After so many goddamn years in this sticking place, he got to live his dream; seeing the outside.
The tiny smile on his features widened at such thoughts. The incredible creatures that had been spoken of in many books were ones he was going to see, and perhaps even touch. He'd be a name kids would know, kids would admire. He might even become a name which has a good ring to it in the books, although it seemed unlikely.
Ah, but a man could dream.
